BUSI 561
Legal Issues in Business

Course Description
This course provides the student with a foundational knowledge of the legal issues that both start-up and established business enterprises face. Armed with this wisdom, the student will assess an organization’s need for competent legal advice from an experienced professional in matters of contracts, corporations, employment, insurance, intellectual property, international trade, leases, limited liability organizations, partnerships, and homeland security concerns.

Rationale
The purpose of this course is to expose the student to a select group of legal issues faced by the typical business in today’s business environment. These issues include, but are not limited to, the following: the American legal system, business organizations, contracts, employment law, intellectual property law, and international law. Further, this course endeavors to equip the student with the ability to analyze these types of legal issues pursuant to a Christian worldview.
