The long-term results and the value of completing my degree will help me to accomplish one of my life long goals. My long-term results would be meeting the minimum or preferred qualifications for any job that may require me to have an associates or bachelor’s degree. They would also increase my annual salary because I would qualify for better jobs. They may also decrease or reduce the chances of any future layoffs and could improve my job conditions. Some other long-term benefits would include making my family proud of me for accomplishing such a remarkable achievement, setting an example for others, and qualifying for additional schooling. The value of completing my degree would not only be about making more money, but receiving a broad bass of knowledge in which I can build off of. It would allow me to have greater economic stability and security along with more prestigious employment opportunities and greater job satisfaction. My degree would allow me to participate in more leisure activities and service my community. It would also increase my self-confidence and I could then realize my true worth. I will use the tools and assessments in this course to help in my future courses and my career plans by incorporating them into each aspect of my learning process. Collaborative learning environments have taught to me to value others’ opinions and utilize them in my educational, career, and everyday life. Diversity plays a major role in our careers and educational endeavors. We have open forums and discussions that allow each student to express their views on a particular topic. This has caused us to showcase our diverse cultures and difference of how we each handle a certain situation. I will use collaborative learning environments throughout my learning process and career by respecting others opinions and evaluating a situation from a different stand point. Time management is a skill that I seem to have to learn through necessity. I have learned through this course to eliminate procrastination and avoidance of tasks. I know time management is a skill that takes time to develop and perfect. It is also a skill that is different for everyone. I have taken a variety of different approaches learned from this course that I will use in future courses and my career to manage time. The first one would be making a to-do list and writing down what I have to complete daily and weekly. The next would be making use of my down time by thinking about what my goals are for that day and prioritizing. I will concentrate on one thing at a time and stay focus, so that I do not lose interest or motivation. I would also set personal deadlines for myself that are realistic and challenge myself to complete them. This would not only save me time, but make me more productive. I will not forget to reward myself for staying on task because I feel that this is important as well to get me goal driven. Critical thinking will be important for me to use while taking other courses and in my future career. I have learned in this course how to refrain from being bias when giving your opinion and thinking before reacting. My critical thinking skills will become increasingly better as I journey through my education by learning to solve a problem with the right aspect of thinking. I have learned that critical thinking skills include analysis, interpretation, evaluation, explanation, and self-reflection. These skills are needed for problem solving and decision making in a wide variety of contexts and at all our educational and professional levels. I know with incorporating and practicing these skills in my education and career I will one day become a successful critical thinker. Goal setting will also be another tool that I will utilize throughout my education and career. I have learned how to set short and long term goals for myself through this course. I have chosen goals that are attainable and realistic, so that I can stay focus and motivated to complete each of them. I set a short term goal during this course to stay on task and manage my time in which I have accomplished and will continue strive for in all my future courses. My long term goals have been set and I am constantly taken action to make certain that I am on schedule with achieving them. I have realized that setting goals for myself is not only a challenge, but can be rewarding as well. I feel that it is important to have goals whether they are short or long term because it allows you to have the determination to strive to accomplish that task. This course has been resourceful and has made me realize that I have chosen the best career field. I will take every lesson learned and challenge myself to reach my ultimate goal of obtaining my degree.

Yes, last week was really difficult for me! I'm pursuing my degree in nursing through Arizona College and doing my prerequests through Keiser University, so I was able to take advantage of the free tutoring available at Arizona College. I put my kids in daycare for the week and I was at the Arizona College campus from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. studying and being tutored. I feel that I understand the concepts that we are studying each week, however the math portion is what I'm having a hard time with since I havent taken a math class in about ten years. I feel that I'm able to do the problems but they are taking me a long time to complete and since the time frame for the test is fifty minutes I run out of time and I'm left guessing on some of the…

Before attending community college, high school proved to be difficult in a very unexpected way. In my experience, high school failed to present any challenge. I quickly became more interested in things other than schoolwork, which was seemingly repetitive and irrelevant to my goals. Thus, at the start of my Junior year of highschool, I made a critical decision that affected me academically thereafter. Enrolling as a full-time Running Start student at Everett Community College immediately introduced me to a fast-paced learning environment that was more suitable to my goals pertaining to business. Quickly, my grades improved and I became passionate about the things I studied, in both business and nonbusiness courses. However, being a Running…

I have not applied an anti-bias curriculum yet, but there are a few times where I’ve encountered a situation where I could have used what I learned in these readings. The biggest problem I’ve encountered is when the appropriate time to educate the children about what they may have saw or why they don’t want to play with a particular child. This occurred, because I wasn’t educated enough myself on the situation. Another problem is, I had the preconceived notion that children as young as two don’t understand such concepts. From these readings and what I learned in other classes, children know a lot more then we know. From not knowing this, I came to the conclusion there was no need to teach or give children the opportunity to learn about…

Since embarking on this course, I have developed an understanding of the notion of critical reflection, in particular understanding how I have impacted upon a situation (Fook and Gardner, 2007:p27) through the unique perspectives and values which I bring to it. Understanding the diversity amongst service users and the complexity of applying theoretical knowledge to practice, has helped me to appreciate the processes involved in reflection and to make sense of my difficulties in past experience to apply my knowledge across different contexts. I have also gained an understanding of how my personality type can impact on my reflective practice. For example, as an introvert this could make the process of reflection with others more difficult, a…

During my junior year of high school, I was enrolled in two of the most rigorous AP courses that my school had to offer. AP Language and Composition and AP U.S History are extremely challenging courses by themselves. However not only did I have those courses to handle, I had my other school work, I was playing three sports, I was finishing up my Eagle Scout Project, and I had my obligation to the Delaware Youth Philanthropy Board. All of this amounted to a few long nights and high stress levels. Admittedly, at the beginning of the year I was ready to AP Language and Composition, and without the heavy encouragement of my teachers I probably would have. By the second marking period, both my organizational and time management skills had improved…

Throughout my years in high school math was never one of my strongest subjects, but that all changed when I enrolled in honors pre-cal. When I received my schedule I thought there had been some mistake, the fact that I landed an honors class in something I totally sucked in was an idea that I could not get a good grasp on. I could feel my blood pressure rising and I wanted to get out of that class more than anything in the world, but there was also a part of me that was excited. There were a million thoughts going through my head at once, one minute I wanted nothing to do with the class, and the next I would be totally hyped about the idea of having another honors class under my belt.I tired to come up with every reason I could not actually stay in the class, but when I realized that…

I am pleased to have received so much great feedback and constructive critiques over the course of the session. I appreciated the opinions voiced but regret that I had not competed my rough draft at the time of the posting. Thus, limiting the feedback that I could receive. The recent peer review generated similar suggestions from the two classmates who graciously read my post. They echoed earlier comments from Professor Bradley and other classmates about the merits of my chosen topic. Further, stating my thesis statement was clear, introduction and conclusion well written and the body (what little was there), strongly supported the thesis. The consensus was my revision efforts should focus on conciseness and brevity in general. Thoughtful suggestions were provided regarding specific paragraphs.…
