Generation FCAT! Unfortunately my generation was driven by budget cuts, and standardized test. I feel like I got cheated out of what could've been a more productive learning environment. Throughout all twelve years of school, all everyone would worry about is passing the FCAT. The teaching curriculum was based off of that standardized test, teachers that actually loved teaching got let go due to budget cuts. Most of my highschool years I had substitutes for two weeks at a time! This summer I would like to learn more about order of operations. Once you know the order of operations, you are able to expand to bigger and more complex problems. I’ve always had difficulty with the bigger problems, they take me more time. One reason I can say I don't like learning math is because I have had teachers that didn't explain things well in the class and then to come home and look at my book feeling overwhelmed, makes me really dislike math!
If I could teach my math class for one day it would be on multiplication, I will never forget my second grade my teacher who taught me. She would play these multiplication songs every day in class till we couldn’t take it any more. Now ten years later when doing multiplication problems I still hear those songs in my head!
After taking the BARSCH my primary type came out to be an auditory learner. Auditory learners prefer to get information by listening, rather than reading or writing it. Written directions are more difficult to follow than spoken ones for most auditory learners. A study skill that I will put into practice would be having my test questions or directions read aloud. I chose this one because I've done it in the past and its helped me a lot having someone read directions for me, and quiz me once I've studied the material on my own.
Math is important for many reasons, adding up prices, adding in tax percentages, subtracting a discount percent. We use math everyday, even when we don’t realize it. We can’t always depend on technology to help us, just as easy as we have it now it may easily be gone tomorrow!

I never came kindly to the subject of Math. Math was always about constant rote memorization, full of extensive redundant notes that always found their way stuffed into the folds of my notebook never to be seen again. I held onto this impression the entire duration of ninth grade. However, upon a simple happenstance of acquiring the right math teacher with a different approach to math, I became increasingly aware of my previous errors in thinking. Everything was not as unyielding and tedious as I thought it was. Experiencing a teacher with a powerful new perspective altered my rigid frame of thinking, allowing me to excel in math.…

Originally, I did not enjoy math when I was in Vietnam because the teachers focused too much on strict memorization, while giving little attention to applications. However, when I started school in America in my sixth grade year, my passion for math developed. Initially, it was the only subject in which I excelled, due to my disadvantage of not speaking English, but eventually finding an answer to a math problem would become an adventure for me. I never gave up on finding an answer even if it meant working from sun to sun. Throughout my high school years, I have always maintained an A plus in all of my math, science, and Latin courses. Also, I was the student who scored highest in my school, a 98, on the Algebra II End of Course exam. I presently taking College Algebra and…

Understanding the relationship between addition and multiplication contributes to the understanding of these concepts to the student because the student will be able to grasp the concept with more ease since they should have been experts in addition once they start learning multiplication. If students see that addition and multiplication is similar because in multiplication you simply repeat the addition problem several times then they will have an easier time learning to multiply numbers. A way in which students can relate addition and multiplication is by teaching them and having them work on grouping. By grouping the students will need to draw circles for the first number that is being multiplied and starts inside the circles for the second number that is being multiplied. For example in 3*5 the student will need to draw 3 circles and then the student will need to draw 5 stars inside each circle. This way the student will be able to see that they are simply adding 5 three times.…
