Saudi Arabia Case Study

Saudi Arabia Case Study
1. What are some current issues facing Saudi Arabia? What is the climate for doing business in Saudi Arabia today? Saudi Arabia has been accused over time that they have and are financing terrorists activities; thus has made them the focus on the global war on terrorism. From reading this case study I would say the climate of doing business with individuals in Saudi Arabia are that they might not be as trustworthy as others may be, seem to say things that aren’t true just to gain the things that they want how they want it; or that they are okay with being paid off to give certain companies contracts.
2. Is it legal for Auger’s firm to make a payment of $100,000 to help ensure this contract? I would think that Auger giving payment of $100,000 dollars to help ensure this contract is not legal business wise. That is not fair to other companies when others use money to win contracts; Auger should not put $100,000 into the pool to help secure the contract because the Minister already wants to give them the contract just simply based off of how they conduct their business.
3. Do you think other firms are making these payments, or is Auger’s firm being singled out? What conclusion can you draw from your answer? I believe that maybe they have gone to the other companies and asked for money to be put in the pool if they wanted the contract. I can conclude that Saudi Arabia is not just looking for a great company but a company that is willing to spend in order to gain business.
4. What would you recommend that Skyblue do? I recommend Skyblue to continue to keep their great business ethics and when the contract by simply just being them, the first reason why the Minister of Saudi Arabia picked them in the first place. Even though it is a competition, you ultimately do not want to win just because you made a payout.

The history of Puerto Rico starts when Christopher Columbus arrived in Puerto Rico in 1493. He instantly called the island San Juan Bautista , but thanks to the gold in the river, it was soon known as Puerto Rico, or "rich port;" and the capital city took the name San Juan. Soon, Puerto Rico was a Spanish colony on its way to becoming an important military outpost.…

Puerto Rico has been a U.S. territory for 115 years, yet Puerto Ricans remain second-class citizens. If it becomes a state, Puerto Ricans will no longer be exempt from Federal income tax and even more people will be forced on to the public’s benefits paid by the government. There are some positive truths to look at also, as journalist Catherine Lozada points out: “Puerto Rico costs the U.S. over $22 billion a year. However, as a state it will contribute nearly $2 billion to the U.S. treasury each year.” There will always be that one question which longs to be answered, and that is: What’s keeping Puerto Rico in Political limbo?…

Throughout history, countries have expanded their empires to create the largest and most powerful on the globe. Napoleon and Alexander the Great had two of the most controlling empires ever created, and Great Britain's in the early 1800's was another of the best. During this time, many empires started expanding to make greater and more commanding kingdoms. Great Britain greatly grew in the 19th century. India, Asia and parts of Africa joined with them to help expand their territory. Britain used an imperialistic government, which was made to take over other areas of the world to gain power to add to their own empire. There were many different causes to British imperialism, some being political, social or economic. In addition, some of the British conquests were beneficial, yet some were not and left harmful impressions on the dominated areas.…

Puerto Rico, an island situated between the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, lies just east of the Dominican Republic. With an area of 9,104 square kilometers (3,515 square miles), Puerto Rico is almost 3 times the size of the state of Rhode Island. As an island commonwealth with a coastline of 501 kilometers (311 miles), Puerto Rico shares no borders with other nations. San Juan, the capital, is located on the northeastern shore of the main island; there are also 3 small islands included in the Commonwealth: Vieques and Culebra to the east and Mona to the west. San Juan's location makes it one of the Caribbean Sea's most valuable ports. The Mona Passage, off Puerto Rico's west shore, is also a crucial shipping route to the Panama Canal. Major cities include Guánica, Playa de Ponce, and Guayanilla, all 3 along the southern coast, in east-to-west order. Puerto Rico's most important cities are port cities, vital to the Puerto Rican economy.…
