Dear Sir or Madam,

At the request of my student Hong May, I am pleased to write this letter of recommendation in support of her application for admission to graduate study at your university. I am a senior professor specialized in the field of criminology for over 30 years, and have once pursued advanced studies in the University of Leicester in Great Britain. May has been a student in many of my classes during the past four years, so I have learned a great deal about her and her abilities, and I know she would do well if given the opportunity to continue her education. May’s determination to succeed has led her to excel in my classes. She consistently gets good marks on her homework and tests, and she participates in class regularly. What strongly impressed me was her intense craving for knowledge, the extraordinary diligence and perseverance demonstrated all through her four-year college life in her studies, and her outstanding academic performance. Compared to the other students in class, May’s grades have always been at the top. This has led other students in her classes to ask her for help if they do not understand a lesson. Despite her busy schedule, May always balances her time, so she can help anyone who needs assistance with the language. In addition, May has a powerful ability of self-study, which enabled her to grasp what I taught within a short time, and put forward her own viewpoints after he consulted and finished reading a vast literature written in English with good combination of domestic research findings. Thus, she has enlarged his scope of knowledge and improved his ability to analyze and solve practical problems to a greater extent. sHe could always come up with novel ideas which were greatly appreciated and highly commended.
