Healthy Sandwich Project

You will design and make a delicious, scrumptious, fun, and healthy sandwich to share with others in class and describe it on a piece of paper. The sandwich should look and taste yummy while also being healthy. Each student will decide on the content of the sandwich and assess the nutritional value of the chosen ingredients in Food Tracker (http://www.supertracker.usda.gov/foodtracker.aspx). The final product Your description of the sandwich will include the ingredients and a nutrient analysis, which you will do in ‘Food Tracker’.

The project should include:

A creative sandwich name
List of ingredients and amounts
Brief explanation of why each ingredient is healthy (e.g. “low-fat cheese is rich in protein and calcium, which help muscles and bones grow)
Macronutrient breakdown (from ‘Nutrient Intake Report’ in Food Tracker’)
‘Daily Food Group’ bar graph
No nuts or shellfish
