“MAPUA CARDINALS VS. EX CARDINALS”

It was an exciting day because of the basketball game held last January 28 2012 in Mapua’s gymnasium. The game was in accordance with the commemoration of the founding anniversary of the institute. It was a fight between the present Mapua basketball players and the ex-cardinals. It was a game between yellow team and red team. The yellow team was composed of Madrid, Palomique, Espinosa, Cinco, Alcantara, and Sta. Maria. The red team who were the Mapua Cardinals include Jimenez, Ranises, Pascual, Mazo, Bernales, Guillermo, Co, and Del Rosario. It was an exciting game from the first to the last quarter of the game. Each team has the determination to win especially the Mapua Cardinals when they struggle to earn more points in the two last quarters of the game. The red team had a hard time in the first two quarters of the game but they instantly regain their lead as one of the team shot three-points. There was also an instance wherein the team amazingly got two consecutive three-points which enables them to a one point lead. The last minute of the game gave us the turning point of the story where the ex-cardinals (now struggling to get points), show an intense game play but failed to get any points. The Mapua Cardinals (red team) win by the score, 119-118.
This was actually a very exciting game because every player is surprisingly giving the audience a very intense game especially the part when the score was tied. I’m hoping for future games like this, very exciting and suited to be part of the founding anniversary of the institute.

As we enter the hall of the National Museum of the Philippines, the prominence of "Spoliarium" an oil on poplar completed in 1884 by National Artist, Juan Luna, is remarkable. The super- sized painting depicts a dark hollow beneath the Roman arena referred to as the Spoliarium where the bodies of slain gladiators are being dragged away for disposal. This is the time in history when the Romans travelled to Europe and collected slaves, otherwise known as the Vikings, to entertain other people in Rome. The Romans created the “Viking Games” where Vikings were forced by Romans to battle lions, tigers and against themselves in an arena. It strikes me as extremely violent, bloody and inhuman. The slaves have no other choice than to fight and kill in order for them to survive. The purpose of the Spoliarium was to “spoil” the dead bodies of the gladiators by exposing them to birds or any creature that eats human flesh. In the right side of the picture you will see an old lady waiting for the corpse of her loved one and an old man searching for the body of his son. The distress is palpable.…

Diosdado Macapagal was born on September 28, 1910, in Lubao, Pampanga, the second of four children in a poor family.[1] His father, Urbano Macapagal, was a poet who wrote in the local Pampangan language, and his mother, Romana Pangan Macapagal, was a schoolteacher who taught catechism.[2] He is a distant descendant of Don Juan Macapagal, a prince of Tondo, who was a great-grandson of the last reigning Rajah of Selurong, Rajah Lakandula.[3] The family earned extra income by raising pigs and accommodating boarders in their home.[2] Due to his roots in poverty, Macapagal would later become affectionately known as the "Poor boy from Lubao".[4] Diosdado Macapagal was also a reputed poet in the Spanish language although his poet work was eclipsed by his political biography.…

Elizabeth Bishop’s “The Hanging of the Mouse”, places animals in the roles of humans in reference to an execution. The writer uses animals to replace humans to possibly convey a message or point of view towards the death penalty. In the story, the mouse is being executed for what we believe is some sort of crime. It isn’t clear whether or not the mouse actually committed a crime, but we are led to believe that an act occurred in which caused the mouse to be executed on this particular day.…

Discussing the example with the stepmother going through her stepson’s phone made me think a lot about where the line between respecting your children, but at the same time looking out for them is drawn. Growing up my parents has had very different ways to go about this line. My dad has always been very clear with rules, and what’s wrong and right and such, but he also left a lot of space for us to experience and learn from our mistakes. While my mom was more the kind who wanted to stop us from making them in the first place, which sometimes can be very overwhelming, because that where the boundaries of personal space can be blurred. I remember that I would go mental if she read my text messages, or a letter that was for me, or if she even moved an object in my room, at a very young age. And we would have fights where she would claim that it is her right as a parent to know what is going on, not matter how old I am. But now that I am older I find that I wouldn’t be mad if she did these things, I would be sad and disappointed. But in my case I don’t have anything to hide, while in the stepson’s case he is actually proving her right in her checking up him, because his actions are those of someone irresponsible, although the stepmother’s actions are of someone who is being disrespectful. That is what makes this particular situation so hard. I remember going through something similar with my little sister, because I tend to be a little too overprotected of her and I worried what she might be influenced to do, simply because I know how hard the “teen world” can be. So this one time I dropped her off at the dentist office, she asked me to hold on to her phone for her, and my curiosity got the best of me. I read through her texts and actually found a text of about her pretending to be our father saying that she was too sick to come take her test and that he would send her with a…

When we entered the airport, it is so secured. There are some restrictions like bringing deadly weapons or just telling a prank about bombs to the guard, because in that case they have their own law that we as tourist needs to abide. It has a fine worth P 50,000 if we do that bomb prank. Inside the airport, they have discussed some short briefings about the law we should follow inside the airport. And after the short visit in the airport, we go straight to our next destination, to Baguio City.…

Experts realized that the Internet would eventually run out of address space with the original version of the Internet Protocol, known as IPv4 (IP version 4). In fact, some industry experts predict that there are only around 1,200 days left until the Internet runs out of IPv4 addresses. So the main solution is to create a new version of Internet Protocol intended to succeed IPV4 which is the IPv6 (IP version 6). The seminar focused on the transitioning from IPv4 to IPv6. As future electronics engineers, we are in need of knowing the new trends that fasten our field. The topic ‘Internet Protocol Version 6 and Future Trends in ECE’ is a big help for us because we are able to know what are the basics and differences of IPv6 from IPv4.…

It fuelled the industrial revolution, and it still generates half of the electricity in the U.S. Recent increases in electricity demand have led utilities across the nation to propose 150 new coal plants, which would commit the U.S. to coal generation as its dominant source of electricity for the next half century. Coal and utility corporations are among the largest and most politically influential in the U.S. Their obligations to shareholders lead them to deploy a massive network of public and political influence in support of policy decisions that support shareholder value, enhance profits and preserve their dominance in the electricity generation sector. These policies are not necessarily the best choices in terms of public health, environmental protection, Global Warming mitigation, or delivering the most affordable electricity over the long run.…

In my group dynamics class I was ask to observe a group in a social setting. I chose to observe my race and ethics class in new castle. The class had an Italian teacher from philly with a very strong personality. Only three males that happened to be black both older but come from three different walks of life. The first is a 34 year old from New York military background and married to a white woman. The second one is a 31-year-old male from Delaware a Historically Black College graduate and has also a military background. The last is a 23 year old from philly and from what I understand with a troubled background. There is five females in this class three of them are white and two black. In a class studying this type of material it seems the females are very uncomfortable speaking about this. So the class is very male dominated which as far as I can observe is the way the females prefer it on this topic. The following paper is set to break down the dynamics of the group setting in this class of far as I can view.…

Zora Nale Hurston’s “Their Eyes Were Watching God” is a story of repression and possession by men over women in black Southern communities, when black men used to treat their women as if they were property. One of the main themes of this story was finding love. Janie thought that just because she married Logan she would eventually grow to love him. Now a lot of us have had a relationship where we thought we would grow to love someone but it didn’t exactly work out that way. I can definitely relate.…

In Albert Camus’s The Stranger, he shares with the reader, the life of an immensely complicated character. The story is presented to the reader by the character himself in most of the story. The character’s name is Meursault, a detached and semi-normal shipping clerk. Meursault appears to be rather stoic and is devoid of emotions. Meursault remains unaffected by passion and emotions throughout the story: however as the story progress towards the end Meursault is showing some feelings. Camus’s The Stranger is an example of existentialism and includes absurdism, as well as stoicism, some nihilism, and some naturalism and he shares with the reader examples of the aforementioned in almost every part of the story.…
