A generation gap is referred to as a distinctive gap between younger people and their parents or grandparents. Those younger people seem to go against everything their parents or grandparents had previously believed regarding many perspectives including life styles, routines and the way they think. In the article "Millennials Are More 'Generation Me' than 'Generation We' Study Finds" by Joanna Chau who has five years of progressive experience in communications and public relations, argues that generational differences by comparing baby boomers and Gen X'er with the young adults now regarding life Goals, concern for others, and civic orientation. It is very apparent that today’s generation has changed greatly since generation of the “baby boomers”. Children in the current generation are coming into a completely different world than it was just 30 years ago. From almost every kid owning a cell phone, televisions being flat, and social networking, it is obvious this isn’t the same world that our grandparents, and even our parents were raised in. Looking back at the generation of the “baby boomers”, it’s hard to even imagine what life would have been like. The “boomers” grew up in a time of where war was an occurring thing, from World War I, World War II, and even the war in Vietnam. They grew up in the time of the great depression, where bread lines and soup kitchens were a part of many families’ lives. Even technology was far from what it is today. Families were lucky to have one television in their house, people actually used land-line telephones, and a person having a cell phone was unlikely. The book Generation Me does a great job of pointing out any difference between the “boomer” generation, and generation “me”. From the way kids are taught in school, the way kids treat other people, and even the attitude about one’s self has completely changed. The author, Jean M. Twenge, Ph.D., notices every minor change that has occurred between the two generations, and comprised a book that will have you noticing things about yourself that you may have never noticed before.…

I did not understand the value and the importance of education until I migrated to America. Coming to America, not only did I get culture shock, but I realized that I could not survive in this country without education. However, to raise my children, I would not rely on the government. I had to start from the beginning by learning ABCs, words, and grammar. This was very difficult to do because I already had my Master’s in Mathematics from my native country. I received my Associate of Science in Mathematics in June 2002 at Los Angeles City College. I continued my education and received my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in June 2006 at Cal State University. It took me years and years finally get to where I am today. I made countless sacrifices, but it has been one of the most gratifying and important decisions I had made in my whole life. Now I am pursuing my education to get DBA at Walden University.…

The 2010 Affordable Healthcare Act (ACA) is the largest change to the United State Health Care system since the Senate passed the Medicare and Medicaid program in 1965. The Affordable Medical Care Act of 2010 will provide affordable insurance coverage to 32 million more Americans; this will require a higher demand on the health care system. With only 3 million registered nurses in the United States, questions were raised as to what kind of responsibilities nurses will have to assume while providing safe, quality health care service. In 2008 Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF), the largest health care foundation dedicated to improving health and health care in the United States, and Institute of Medication (IOM) developed in 1970 as a non-profit organization whose purpose is to advise on biomedical science, medicine and health partnered to create a report that can act as the cornerstone for the future of nursing. The 2010 IOM Report: The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health focused on many different topics related to health care this paper will discuss Nursing Education, Practice, and Leadership to deal with the increasing demand on health care system (“The future of,” 2011, p. 1). The Institute of Medicine (IOM) released a report focusing on the future of nursing: innovative change and advancing healthcare (The Institute of Medicine, 2011). This IOM report created a great impact upon the nursing profession by talking about education, advancement in practice, and presenting nurses as leaders in the medical profession (The Institute of Medicine, 2011). The field of nursing is ever changing with innovative ideas and improved standards of safe patient care. The IOM report focused on the “critical intersection between the health needs of diverse populations across the lifespan and the actions of the nursing workforce.” (The Institute of Medicine, p. 4, 2011). Their recommendations are “intended to support efforts to improve the health and the U.S. population through the contributions nurses can make to delivery of care. But they are not necessarily about achieving what is most comfortable, convenient, or easy for the nursing profession.” (The Institute of Medicine, p. 4, 2011). While these three key messages touch on different areas, they are all tied together by the same goal: providing patients with the highest quality of patient-centered care.…
