Write about a school expedition that resulted in disastrous consequences.
Staring at the children before me, I couldn’t believe how our plans had gone disarray. My thoughts were disrupted by the noisy chatter among the students and the shouts across the room. The paper aeroplane which zoomed past my face jolted me out of my daze. I wanted to dig a hole in the ground and hid in it forever, never wanting to come out. Salty tears streamed down my face and I felt so embarrassed of my incompetence to control the group of students. From my friend’s expressions of confusion and embarrassment, I knew that they were feeling the exact same way. I hadn’t imagined that our project would become a complete disaster as I began to mentally replay the events that had occurred a few days ago.
My heart was pounding so hard against my chest and I could feel the adrenaline rising up my spine. The secondary four students had gathered at the auditorium, and we were awaiting the news as to which group of students had been selected for the service learning trip. All around me, students were whispering in hushed tones. The excited chatter soon died off as my teacher walked into the room, and the “clickety click” of her high heels was amplified by the eerie silence which fell across the room, I could feel a thousand butterflies fluttering in my stomach as I waited for the list of selected students to be flashed on the screen. There it was, right before us, the names of the lucky ones who had been selected for the trip. I scanned through the names quickly. To my delight, not only had I been chosen, a few of my close friends had also been selected. Among the excited students, I could also see a few disappointed faces. Although I felt sad for them, I could not hide the elated look on my face. I started counting down the number of days left to our flight.
