LESSON PLAN
Grade: 7
Subject: Arts and Culture (Movement)
Duration: 30 minutes
Sub-Topic of this lesson: Exploring elements of movement using Laban’s concept.
What is the purpose of the lesson?
The purpose of this lesson is to introduce learners to different elements of movement and exploring space using level, shape, dimension and so forth

1. Summarise the most important content knowledge that pupils should know and understand by the end of this lesson.
2. Rudolf Laban analysed movement in an interesting and applicable way; in that he developed four concepts which are: space, weight, time and flow. Students will explore and demonstrate their understanding of these basic elements of movement and will combine them into sequences.
3. a) What do you want pupils to do during the lesson?
Students will improvise, experiment with and develop these elements (flow, level, weight, etc).
b) What resources could pupils engage with during the lesson?\
Students will be given a worksheet that has notes on the concepts that Laban developed.
c) How is the content knowledge linked to the previous knowledge of pupils?
If students have already been introduced to movement this will be a deeper insight into it; which will add more knowledge on movement and its development.
d) What subject/ terminology would pupils need to learn during this lesson?
Space, weight, pace, flow, time, level

e) Teaching and learning strategies: Leaners would do individual work.
