Mobile Phone Disadvantage #1 – An Unsafe Safety Standard

Mobile Phone Disadvantage #2 – Negative Health Effects

Mobile Phone Disadvantage #3 – Cause of Infertility in Man
In case you have not read the first part Unsafe Safety Standard:
Mobile phones transmit and receive Radio Frequency (RF) signals in order to communicate. The RF signals from mobile phones fall within the microwave part of the electromagnetic spectrum. This radiation is also referred to as microwave radiation or electromagnetic radiation.
In short: Mobile phones use microwave radiation to communicate.
Mobile phone radiation will also be referred to as microwave radiation, Radio Frequency radiation, RF Radiation, and electro magnetic radiation. Mobile Phone Disadvantage #4 – The Effect on Children

The health effects of mobile phone radiation on children is very worrisome. All government reports and many scientific studies that are referred to in this article emphasize that children are more vulnerable than adults. In ‘How Exposure to Mobile Phone Base-Station Signals Can Adversely Affect Humans’, Dr Hyland explains why children are more vulnerable:

Preadolescent children are more vulnerable [to microwave radiation] because of their thinner skulls, their still developing nervous systems, their increased levels of cell division, and their less robust immune systems.[1]

Children that grow up in our new mobile phone world are exposed to microwave radiation from the moment they are in the womb. However, the effects of microwave radiation on infants is unknown to most parents. The Stewart Report is a report commissioned by the British Parliament in response to fears that mobile phone use could be linked to memory loss, and even Alzheimer’s Disease. It explains the effect of mobile phone radiation on children:
A one year old could absorb around double [the radio frequency (RF) radiation], and a five year old around 60%, more than an adult. Additionally, since children are being

There has have been many researches and court cases on how cell phones are dangerous and what kind of damage it they can do to people. There was a case on a man who blamed cell phones in the hospital that had died from a brain tumor. That person blamed the death of their family member on cell phones because the cell phone was right beside where the brain tumor was. Scientists were investigating on how can the cell phone can cause brain tumors and other serious diseases. Some scientists say that cell phones are giving off radiation when talking on the phone. Cell phones are like microwaves because the cell phone’s using radiation to send and receive the text messages and calls. Many people press the cell phone up against their ear so they can hear the person they are talking to. Cell Phones phones do produce a lot of heat and it produces microwaves, which it uses radiation just like the microwave that people use to cook food. Cell Phones phones are also dangerous to use when driving down the highway because the cell phones can still receive messages and calls. Cell Phone phone radiation was studied by different scientists on how it caused brain cancer on many patients. Students use the cell phones to cheat on tests and quizzes. It significantly affects the change of education standards to the students who have cell phones because it’s easier for the students to find the correct answer on the internet.…

One of the main reason cell phones might have the potential to harm us human beings are because of a form of electromagnetic radiation called radiofrequency energy. Electromagnetic radiation can be categorized in two types: ionizing and non-ionizing (National Cancer Institute). Here is why this is a problem, exposure to ionizing radiation is known to increase the risk of cancer. However, in regards to non-ionizing radiation, like microwaves and ovens, there is currently no evidence that relates non-ionizing radiation to a risk…

Radiation is all over the place, and cannot be escaped. But the amount that one is exposed to can be lowered. Cell phones do not generate large amounts of radiation, but give off an amount similar to that of a large toaster oven. With over 300 million cell phone subscribers in the United States alone, it is not hard to see why this could cause a problem (CNN Health). Tissues in close contact to a radiation-emitting device will absorb radiation, so when one holds a cell phone near their face for an extended period of time, the radiation enters his/her body through the skin (National Cancer Institute). Over the last decade, research on radiation has increased tremendously, but there were no prior studies performed, especially on children. Through recent studies, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has listed cell phones as “possibly carcinogenic to humans.” New studies, launched in 2010, are tracking individuals for twenty to thirty years monitoring their health related to their cell phone use (Cancer Risk).…

Cellular phones are now an integral part of modern telecommunications. In many countries, over half the population use mobile phones and the market is growing rapidly. At the end of 2009, there were an estimated 4.6 billion subscriptions globally. In some parts of the world, mobile phones are the most reliable or the only phones available. The world now has over 5.6 billion mobile phone users. Cell phones emit radiofrequency energy, a form of non-ionizing or electromagnetic radiation, and tissues nearest to where the phone is held can absorb this energy. The majority of the radiofrequency energy emitted by a cell phone is absorbed by the hand and head of the user. The total energy absorbed is a function of the specific absorption rate (SAR), duration of use, and the manner in which the cell phone is used. In addition, people are concerned that cell phones might have the potential to cause certain types of cancer or other health problems. Possible damage in our tissues, increase in the risk of brain glioma and risk of tumors by heating the cells in the head and neck are three possible cancer-causing effects of radiofrequency (RF) energy of cell phones. The use of speaker mode or a hands-free device, a cell phone with a low SAR value, and reducing the amount of time spent on the cell phone are three ways to reduce RF exposure.…

Pawl states in his editorial, “Cell phones are more dangerous than cigarettes!”, in Surgical Neurology, “The long term use of cell-phones was leading to brain tumors and was more dangerous to health than smoking cigarettes” (Pawl 445). To actually believe that over time the use of a cell phone is more harmful than the tobacco and nicotine inhaled by smoking is a shocker. Although the cell phone itself may not create and spark some sort of new cancer, it is said that cell phones do increase the chances for gaining other health problems (Pawl 445). Pawl also brought up something called EMF’s (electromagnetic fields). Electromagnetic fields can cause all sorts of problems to the human body from nausea, dizziness, headaches, etc. With this sort of exposure from a cell phone over a long period of time, even starting at a young age has a much greater risk. Also over time exposure can cause things such as ipsilateral, glioma, and acoustic neuroma (Pawl 445).…

This article talks about how cell phones are not linked to cancer. According to Danish researchers, the biggest study ever consisting of 350,000 people found no evidence of any link. This concluded that people who have used a cell phone for a decade don’t have different cancer rates than those who have not. Last year, a different study found no connection between cell phones and cancer. But it showed a possible connection between heavy phone usage and glioma, a brain tumor that is rare but deadly. However, this information was not enough to support the case. That study of over 14,000 people in many countries, along with animal experiments, led to classifying electromagnetic energy from cell phones as possibly carcinogenic along with coffee and gasoline engine exhaust. But cell phones don’t issue the same radiation that is used in medical tests or found in radon soil so there might not be a risk. The Food and Drug Administration and the Federal Communications Commission have no evidence of cell phones being linked to cancer but people still have fears of getting it, although cancer rates have not risen since cell phones were introduced. Researchers have updated a recent study examining 358,403 cell phones users 30 years of age and older in Denmark from 1990 to 2007. They found that cell phone users did not have a higher risk of cancer than those without them. Cell phone users also aren’t more likely to develop a tumor in a part of the brain where phones are held against the head. About three-quarters of the world’s population use a cell phone. This makes it difficult for scientists to compare cancer rates between users and non-users. The advocacy group MobileWise said that the Danish study wasn’t enough to consider the long-term risk since brain tumors can take decades to develop. In about 30 other studies, those with brain tumors…

With cell phones, what we cannot see is one of the concerns of health everyone should taken into account. To remain wireless and portable cell phones emit an invisible electromagnetic wave to stay in contact with the network provider. They are so powerful that too much exposure can damage brain cells and cause cancer. Yet, people had neglected this knowledge simply because the appearance of a cell phone does not underlies this potential health hazard. Ask yourself why every time people had to turn off their cell phones on a plane and you will see that the radiation is strong enough to distort the plane's communication system. How could it be harmless? Most texting requires the phone to be near the user and considering the time most people spent texting it is definitely not minimum exposure. The more shocking truth we must acknowledge is how young the cell phone users are getting. In this high-tech world people always wanted the latest and the best and kids are no exceptions. What would have been a great birthday present a few years ago would now be replaced by demands of mobiles and iPods. The younger you are the more easily damaged your brain is and hearing about toy-makers making cell phones targeted at the younger age group is suicidal. This really makes one think: Why is no one doing anything to prevent…

During normal use, over half of the radiation transmitted by your mobile phone is absorbed by your head or body. Around 80% of the phone's microwave emissions are absorbed by the head. Only shielding or distance to the phone can reduce their severe impact. The United Nations World Health Organization has classified mobile phone radiation as possibly cancer causing and advise that it is important for mobile phone users to minimize exposure by utilizing hands free devices or texting. Always use speakerphone or proven radiation safety accessories.…
