What is OBE-SCL ? Outcome Based Education Student Centered Learning

• Paradigm shift from the teacher-centered to the student-centered learning • Importance : to ensure that all Course Outcomes (COsevery code subjects) are attained at the end of every semester. • Thus assisting the attainment of Program Outcomes (POsEM110 Diploma in Mechanical Engineering) at the end of the program. • Eventually supporting the Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) once the graduates are employed. OBE-SCL Each semester Each Program After

Component of OBE-SCL
Student will be assessed using Bloom’s Taxonomy in 3 ways to measure the OBE-SCL: 1. Cognitive/Knowledge (Mengukur kemahiran intelek) (Knowledge, Comprehension, Application, Analysis, Synthesis and Evaluation)

2. Affective/Attitude (Mengukur sikap, nilai dan perasaan)
(Receiving, Responding, Valuing, Organizing and Characterizing)

3. Psychomotor/Skill

(Mengukur kemahiran/skill)

(Imitation, Manipulation, Precision, Articulation and Naturalization)

Course Description
This course covers some fundamentals of materials science, which are necessary for the understanding of materials properties for their appropriate applications. The major families of materials such as metals, ceramics, polymers and composite are discussed for their structures, properties and applications.

Course Outcome
• CO1 :Explain basic concepts of structure, mechanical and physical properties of engineering materials. [PO1, LO1]{C2}. • CO2 ;Apply the basics concepts to identify the relationships between properties and structure of materials. [PO3, LO3, SS1]{C3}. • CO3 :Choose the suitable material for appropriate engineering applications. [PO3, LO3, SS1]{C3}
