Adhere to all aspects of the College Computer Use agreement that they have each signed.
Appreciate that there will be NO warnings regarding any breach of the contract and that any such breach WILL result in the immediate suspension of their right to access the college network.
Complete any outstanding work for this subject using non-college computers should their access to the network be revoked for any reason by any teacher in any subject/location.
BACK-UP their work at all times, preferably using their own USB memory stick. Please note that, unless there are exceptional circumstances, any work lost and/or irretrievable WILL BE treated as not having been done.
Ensure that any AUTHENTICATION requirements regarding their coursework are complied with.
UNIT DESCRIPTION
The aim of this course is to allow students to develop an understanding of responsible use of computers and the internet. how computers are used to process data into information. terms and definitions associated with information systems. using computers in a networked environment. how to perform basic calculations in Microsoft Excel. the fundamentals of programming in Visual Basic.
During the unit, the students will have the opportunity to develop skills in general computer use, especially transportable skills that are independent of the software or platform being used. the use of Microsoft Excel; formulae, graphs, labour saving techniques. a programming environment using Visual Basic. electronic communications with respect to the collection and submission of work.
