The Affect Of Rising Fuel Price To The Society
Money is always an issue in today's era of materialism. Most people need it for basic survival while the lucky few indulge in luxuries without worrying about money. In my opinion, I strongly agree that the rising fuel price has pushed up the price of other consumer products and this will surely affect the society. In this essay, I would like to touch on the effects this price increase has on society today, were increasing vice activities, widening the gap between the rich and the poor and affecting the population trend in the long term. First and foremost, society will immediately be affected by the rise in fuel prices because consumer products will be more costly and this leads to an increase of vice activities. This is because basic necessities such as rice, flour, sugar and so on will be in great demand and some warehouses will store or hoard the items to further increase the price of the product. Moreover,in the newspapers today, reports of smuggling of these items prove that this vice activity is other rise. For example, the recent sugar price hike caused a furor among the Malaysian society a sit costs more fuel to travel to and from the supermarket and when arriving, most places had run out of stock even though the government had allocated 2kg of sugar to one person. Therefore, the fuel price increase had definitely caused more hardships to society today. Secondly, it is undeniable that the rise in fuel prices leads to the widening of the gap between therich and the poor. This is due to the fact that people are greatly affected by the price of basic necessities such as food and fuel in particular. Furthermore, the rich people will still be able toafford such things but the poor will face greater challenges as the popular saying goes: "The richget richer, and the poor get poorer." For instance, when money is used to purchase consumer products that are necessary for survival, then less money will be

In the beginning of the summer, when most people drive to vacation spots throughout the United States, gas prices reached record highs. In June 2000, the national average was $1.68 per gallon and in some larger cities; the prices soared to $2.00 and more per gallon (Facts.com, 2005). Americans were furious not only because consumers were paying more at the pumps, but because rising fuel costs have triggered inflation. Americans realized that if inflation began to rise, a recession could be triggered as had occurred in the 1970's and 1980's (Facts.com, 2005).…

Gasoline pricing is a constant irritate for many of us who are not happy about the high cost of fuel and why it remains high. We can use empirical results that can provide evidence to this very contention of high fuel expense if we research the following: Asplund et al. (2000), Bacon (1991), Borenstien et al. (1997), and Peltzman (2000). These explanations can provide some prime evil example of why the costs are constantly affected in our everyday life. When crude oil is produced it provides the cost per barrel depending on how many barrels it’s producing, therefore if the price is $ 80 dollars per gallon it may in fact cost the consumer the same amount by the cost of fuel per gallon. There were a few main causes for the sharp rises in gas prices during 1999 to mid 2008 time period. The sharp rise in gas can mainly be contributed to the increase in the price of oil. The high prices of oil are attributed to the cases of supply and demand. The supply of oil has not increased enough to meet the new demand. Demand for oil has increased over the years in a few countries while the supply stays constant causing the price increase. The price of gasoline is also heightened by the taxes, the cost to refine oil into gasoline, the transportation costs, and the profit of the gasoline dealer. The main causes for such a drastic change in prices are the change in demand from a few countries while the supply of gasoline has remained almost constant over the years span.…

During the World War II, the fossil fuels played an important role in the battle because all the participants in the war needed combustible; therefore, countries as Venezuela and Norway started to export petroleum to the countries that were in the dispute. Subsequently, all the countries’ economy started to revolve around petroleum, and some of them began to build a monopoly in oil becoming in world power nations. But not all the countries were benefited from that, for example, in the actually Venezuela is suffering one of the biggest economic recessions due to the dependency of petroleum in its economy. According to Arturo Uslar Pietri in his article “Sowing the Oil,” the only profitable use of the petroleum’s incomes is investing them in other technologies, which could be alternative fuels, and other economic sector as tourism and agriculture. Also, Arturo Uslar Pietri claimed that basing the world economy in oil would create a monopoly and enrichments of only a few countries meanwhile others will fall in depression and impoverishment. The development of alternative fuels will create a new and equal market for the world that will increase each one’s economy without depend in one non-renewable source, as the petroleum, and it will create sufficient jobs for those who are working on the petroleum industry and those who are…
