Course Description: This course offers an introduction to modern Japanese, developing the communicative skills of Japanese in all language areas – listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills
(which include Hiragana and Katakana writing systems and kanji characters).
The course is also designed to deepen socio-cultural knowledge for communication. In addition to the acquisition of verbal and written skills, therefore, students will also learn the cultural background of the language. This is because dealing with foreign language learning is impossible without taking culture into account.
Learning Objectives/Outcomes of the Japanese Program: 1. Language, Linguistics. Students will speak, listen, write, and read Japanese throughout a variety of language and linguistic courses. 2. Culture. Students will identify and analyze various elements of Japanese culture not only through a range of culture-focused courses but also through general language courses.
Learning Objectives/Outcomes of this course: You will be able to develop the following Japanese skills by the end of this course.
