When supporting and individual with intimate personal care need you most always make sure that the room you are doing it in is quite and the curtains are closed, also that there are only the right amount of staff in the room that need to be at one time eg. If you have a person that needs two people help them out of there wheelchair and on to their bed you only have two trained members of staff in there at one time. You can also protect their dignity by covering the person up with a towel or something if for any reason someone else enters the room. You most also explain to them what you are doing at all time and make sure they have an involvement in their own care by asking them for their preferences with regard to some things. Another main factor is to make sure you talk to them and include them don’t talk over the person even if the person you care for has limited communication.

The patient themself can demand for different levels of attention as well as external stimuli in the worker’s home. Humans are unpredictable, especially while needing the care of another person due to varying levels of illness and differing personalities.
