Long and short term financing

A small or large business alike both needs access to short-term and long-term loans. Short-term loans can help improve cash flow and can be used to increase inventory while long-term loans are more for larger purchases such as equipment or even leases.
“--There are several types of short-term financing: an overdraft, a letter of credit, a short-term loan, and a bill of exchange. An overdraft is an extended credit granted by a financial institution. A letter of credit is a guarantee of payment to a seller. A short-term loan is for a period of less than a year, and it has to be repaid with interest over a fixed period of time. A bill of exchange is a binding document, where one party agrees to pay another party a specified amount by a certain date. “ (Short Term -vs.- Long Term Loans, Jan.2013) All of these types of short-term credit can be helpful when a business needs a boost of extra cash to cover costs because of slow receivables or even payroll. While this would be a temporary fix, which would flag a need to review costs, payables, receivables, and employee overtime that may be cutting into the company costs, it is a good short-term solution for any business. “Long term financing refers to financing that spans a longer period of time that could go up to about 3-30 years or more. Long-term loans are riskier in nature, and banks or financial institutions providing the loan have more to lose since the amount borrowed is larger, and period of repayment is longer. Therefore, when banks offer longer-term loans some form of collateral is required to ensure that the borrower will not default on his repayment.” (Difference Between Long-term and Short-term Financing, Nov. 2012) This type of financing is typical for a business that is starting up and needs to purchase new equipment such as machinery and vehicles. It is also typically seen

The new sales minus accounts uncollectible are $72,800, which is the annual incremental revenue. In order to get the annual earnings before taxes, we must subtract collection costs of 5% ($4,000) and subtract production and selling costs at 78% ($62,400) from the annual incremental revenue ($72,800), which gives us a total of $6,400 in annual earnings before taxes; subtract taxes at 30% ($1,920) and this gives us our incremental income after taxes. Now, we want to divide the incremental income after taxes into the investment of accounts receivables, which equals 0.28 or 28%. Therefore, the return on incremental investment is…

Trade credit is the most popular form of short term financing, figures show that over 40 percent of businesses use this form. Trade is also known as accounts payable. This form of short term financing happens when manufacturers or suppliers provide goods or services upfront to companies with the expectation of getting payment within 30 to 60 days from time of delivery. Usually suppliers may offer discounts if the receiving company makes payment within a specified period of time. Short term creditors, such as a banks, are primarily interested in liquidity; the ability of the borrower to pay obligations when they come due. This is extremely important in evaluating whether the borrow can live up to the expectations of the loan agreement. A long-term creditor, such as a bondholder, looks to profitability and solvency measures that indicate the company's ability to survive over a long period of time. Long-term creditors consider such measures as the amount of debt in the company's capital structure and its ability to meet interest payments. Similarly, stockholders look at the profitability and solvency of the company. They want to assess the likelihood of dividends and the growth potential of the…

In the article III courts it includes the U.S District Courts, the U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeal and the U.S. Supreme Court. The judges in the federal court are appointed by the President of the United States, with the advice and consent of the Senate. Federal judges remain in office a lifetime. These courts are considered special because unlike other courts, they are not of general jurisdiction that can hear almost any case. The second type of court is also established by congress and those courts are the magistrate court and bankruptcy courts.…

The system uses a fully integrated Windows based ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) manufacturing distribution and management software application that is licensed to process plastics processors, process, and assembly manufacturing. The problem is the license does not include the application source code at the San Jose system. Michigan purchased a vendor developed software application and the attendant source code and process application. The vendor is no longer in business and the application runs on a pair of DEC Alpha’s while using a VMS operating system, VAX4000 work stations and programmed in C. This will require an application to debug and fix the program from a C programmer specialist. Georgia also purchased a vendor developed software application but runs on AS400’s , using UNIX operating system, Windows, and programmed in RPG400.They should either pick the current running vendor from Georgia to help lower cost of running…
