Explain below the main points of your health and safety policy in your workplace:
To prevent accidents and cases of work related ill health and provide adequate control of health and safety risks arising from work activities. (responsible for ensuring day to day legal requirements are met / specific hazards associated with operations including first aid, manual handling, infection control, medication, food safety and hygiene, occupational health, etc.)
This basically means that while at work I am going to be provided with all of the appropriate equipment, protective clothing, understanding of procedures and practice of policies and risk assessments. This is done so that I can do my job safely and to make sure that I do not injure myself or anyone else. It’s also here to make sure that if anything was to go wrong that it is dealt with in the correct way.
To provide adequate training to ensure employees are competent to do their work.
This means that I will be provided with training in fire safety, first aid, moving and handling, infection control, COSHH and RIDDOR. This is done so that in case I get put in a situation where any of the previous may occur/be relevant I have the knowledge and understanding to be able to deal with the situation correctly.
To engage and consult with staff on day-to-day health and safety conditions and provide advice and supervision on occupational health.
This means that we will be told about and health and safety matters as they come up about we will also be formally told at staff meetings and after regular checks have been done. This is done so
