Name and describe the three main parts of a cell. plasma membrane-forms a cell’s flexible outer surface, separating the cell’s internal environment (inside the cell) from its external environment (outside the cell) cytoplasm- consists of all the cellular contents between the plasma membrane and the nucleus. nucleus- is the largest organelle of a cell. The nucleus acts as the control center for a cell because it contains the genes, which control cellular structure and most cellular activities

Plasama membrane is adjecent or near the secondary cell wall in a cell. It is a living outermost boundary of all the cells three layer that is two protein layers on either side and a double middle layer

The plasma membrane consists mostly of phospholipids, arranged in a bilayer, and proteins, most of which are glycoproteins.
2. Name several functions carried out by membrane proteins.
Most functions of the plasma membrane depend on the types of proteins that are present. Integral proteins called receptors recognize and bind a specific molecule that governs some cellular function, for example, a hormone such as insulin. Some integral proteins act as enzymes, speeding up specific chemical reactions. Membrane glycoproteins and glycolipids often are cell identity markers. They enable a cell to recognize other cells of its own kind during tissue formation, or to recognize and respond to potentially dangerous foreign cells.
Some integral proteins function as channels or carriers to move substances across membranes. Other integral proteins function as receptors. Membrane glycolipids and glycoproteins are involved in cellular

    The plasma membranes are made up of proteins that form pores and channels, cholesterol to provide membrane stability and carbohydrate molecules for cell recognition. The most abundant component found in the plasma membrane is the phospholipid, which is bilayer. The plasma membrane is amphipathic that include both hydrophilic heads and hydrophobic tails. The head is polar and the tail is non-polar. The plasma membrane is what they call a mosaic of lipids, proteins and carbohydrates. Active transport is within the cell membrane which requires the use of energy and moves molecules from low to high concentrations using protein carriers. The transport are made up of pinocytosis, phagocytes, receptor mediated endocytosis, exocytosis and transcytosis. Pinocytosis is when cells take in tiny droplets of liquid from their surroundings. Phagocytes are white blood cells that take in solid particles such as bacteria and cellular debris, this helps fight off injections or diseases causing microorganisms. The receptor-mediated endocytosis will only let certain particles into the cell, only allowing cells with the appropriate receptors to remove and process its surrounding even in very low concentrations. Exocytosis is a substance that’s placed into a vesicle and comes together with the cell membrane which releases the contents outside of the cell. The cells secrete proteins this way.
