TOPIC: Candy Crush Saga is taking over peoples’ lives.

Candy Crush. A simple game that uses colourful jellies and wrapped delights to lure the innocent into its tasty trap known as addiction. Yes, the game is entertaining and enjoyable, but like any other video game, it comes with a bunch of physical, social and mental consequences that effect a person’s everyday life. So why do people become so reliant on the sugar crushes and soothing music of Candy Crush? Well with over 400 levels and a variety of platforms to play on, its no surprise that Candy Crush is one of the most popular and enticing games out in the world today.

So how many of you guys have heard of candy crush? How many of you have played it? Almost all of you have. Statistics show that nearly 133 million Facebook users play Candy Crush monthly. That’s almost a 10th of people registered with Facebook. So why is it these simple games that require no level of skill what so ever, require our full attention and ultimate commitment 24/7? Why is it that the sensational sweets influence the way we spend our days? And why is it that not only youth, but fully mature adults are becoming increasingly addicted to the wondrous ways of Candy Crush?

For some the uncontrollable compulsion to play repeatedly has transformed into a full-blown addiction. In the UK, some people’s need for the game has become so bad, that they have built a residential rehabilitation center just for Candy Crush addicts. I’m pretty sure no body wants to end up in a place as stupid as that.

Imagine this: You have been travelling for days trying to tackle the difficulties of Chocolate Mountain. Your boosters are down and you still have to cross the Bubblegum Bridge that stretches far across the Lemonade Lake. You’ve come a long way on your journey from Candy Town and you so desperately want to make the triple digit

Since then I've kept up with the ins and outs of the Royal Family and the shenanigans of Prince Harry, my now favorite Prince. He is a Princess Diana reincarnated in the male form. Lives by his own rules and with not a care in the world. Madison and I were able to visit the Madame Tussauds London museum while on our trip to London just recently, thanks to the kind folks of Merlin Entertainment. Since this is most likely the only way we'll ever get to the meet the Royal Family we just had to do it. Now if you're thinking all wax museums are the same, well Madame Tussauds London is on a whole new level of awesome. I've…

I grew up in a household where video games were a privilege that I had to earn. When I had done all my homework and chores, I was allowed to play video games for an hour a day. As I grew older my parents thought I could make my own choices and did not limit the amount of time I spent playing video games. Many people today think that video games cause children to become couch potatoes, act dumb, and be rude. As a young child, my parents taught me that responsibilities come before the reward. That is why I have a different opinion of video games. I believe that video games can be beneficial to individuals; however, there are limitations. They help children deal with cancer, improve literacy skills, gain educational skills, and stay fit, but individuals should be cautious about the genre of the game and the amount of play time. When these precautions are taken, video games can be a helpful tool for many.…

Video games are widely used as a source of entertainment. Video games allow a person to physically interact with a television or a computer. Although there are casual players who enjoy a game for a brief period of time, there are also people who are overly obsessed. Obsessed players continuously play with no time limits, while a typical player can control the amount of time they play. This is a video game addiction. Video games create more of an addiction than reading a book as they are difficult to quit playing and people tend to have an urge to pick the controller or keyboard back up and continue to play.…

The term 'Addiction ' is perhaps most commonly used to describe problematic drug use. Drug addiction is a very controversial topic with many diverse definitions and opinions. Barber (1995) addressing this issue says "Many attempts have been made to arrive at a universally acceptable definition of addiction but the matter remains unresolved and contentious. As a result, terms which might sound as if they refer to much the same thing take on subtle shades of meaning and can lead to spirited, even acrimonious debate among drug experts." Popular conceptions of addiction do not stop at drugs but people can become overly attached to alcohol, gambling, chocolate, sex, computer games and even using the internet. These non-drug addictive behaviours are similar in that the person has a lack of control over their behaviour.…
