My report on the history of the guidon begins by me saying this it is the most valuable job in the company. It is used in many different events like showing the company's name in brigade or battalion meetings. The guidon was issued first in 1776 on the day of February 20. And It was quoted from Washington's headquarters and stated (as it is necessary that every regiment should be furnished Colours, and that those colours should bear some kind of similitude to the uniform of the regiment to which they belong.) The numbers on the guidon represent the unit in which that company or battalion belongs to. In 1779 the guidon was carried around everywhere on the battle field to show the strength and the courage of those men who fought straight up in head to head combat and the flag was a representation of who they were. The first Army National color was blue incorporating the design of an eagle and the name and numbers of the the unit.…

The purpose of Army Regulation 670-1 as stated in chapter 1 paragraph 1-1 is as follows. “This regulation prescribes the authorization for wear, composition, and classification of uniforms, and the occasions for wearing all personal, (clothing bag issue), optional, and commonly worn organizational Army uniforms. It also prescribes the awards, insignia, and accouterments authorized for wear on the uniform, and how these items are worn. General information is also provided on the authorized material, design, and uniform quality control system.” The book answer to the purpose of the regulation only goes so far. If you look further into the regulation it states that the United States Army is a uniformed service that is judged, in part, by the way a soldier wears their uniform. This being said, if a soldier wears their uniform in a manner which is not clean and neat in appearance, and portrays the army poorly, the members of the United States Army would be viewed in a poor and undisciplined manner. Whereas if the members of the United States Army hold themselves to a higher standard, and maintain a neat and clean appearance, the members of the uniformed service will be viewed by the outside world as an organization which personifies what discipline is supposed to be. While we are on the subject of discipline, I think it would be good to explore it and it’s relation to the importance of Army Regulation 670-1. Discipline is one of the cornerstones of the United States Army. Discipline can set you above and beyond everyone else, and it can help you excel in everything you do. What is…

The American flag is an everlasting symbol of freedom and hope. The flag of the United States has standards on how it can be used. The code states that the flag should never be used as wearing attire, bedding, and curtains. Should never be stepped on, drawn back, nor up in folds, but always allow to free fall without touching the ground. Some people bend the rules slightly in clothing design and how the flag is used in other ways. No disrespect should be shown to the flag of the United States of America, but actions that are not stated in the code may be deemed acceptable as long as the proper respect is shown. A picture taken by Vanessa Hicks, a retired Navel veteran, has caused a major debate regarding the rules of reverence…

Today we have many of our guys who like to push the envelop. Our gear is the best and it will protect us in any kind of conditions. But is still has limits. You may be protected from the heat and fire to an extent but you can only go as far as the SCBA will let you. You are going to run out of air sooner or later. Years ago the firefighters that come from what I like to call the old school didn’t wear nomex hoods. They were told when your ears start burning your in too deep and its time to back up. We wear the hoods now and cover every squared inch of our body and we don’t know when we have gone too far. We are sufficiently covered up like a cocoon and we get our self into environment we shouldn’t be. But our gear won’t let us down it’s the best.…

The flag was not made to be a sign of abhorrence against them, but that flag was created for the Confederacy, and they formed in hopes to keep slavery to make themselves money. A similar situation took place in the 1930’s and 1940’s in Europe. The Swastika used to be a betoken of good fortune and well being. But, after it was used by Hitler during his reign, it is now seen as a sign of Nazi Germany and the genocide of 6 million innocent Jews. The flag has the same type of relationship with people of African American descent as the Swastika does with those of jewish descent. An Arbiter writer says “the flag cannot be considered anything but a symbol of slavery, treason, lynching, and the KKK”(Arbiter staff member). He, along with others, feel that the flag has been used so much to represent racism that it now has no other meanings. Even though it was not the initial premeditation for the flag to represent slavery and racism, it has lost just about all its other meanings and…

United States Army flags traditionally have been used for purposes of identification and the fostering of esprit de corps. The present policies stem from ideas and practices dating back to the Revolutionary War. In turn, those were influenced by the military traditions of Western Europe to a great extent. The English, French, Dutch, Spanish, and others brought to North America their flags, military uniforms and other official symbolism. Leaders of the colonists were familiar with military traditions and those of England and France, particularly.…

The 13 stripes on the flag represent the first colonies and the 50 stars represent the 50 states. The red on the stripes signifies courage, the white is for purity and innocence, and the blue is for preserverance and justice. This is one thing that all Americans have in common. Since this is a free country, there is no single religion that citizens share. Without the flag, there would be nothing connecting all the different cultures and places of the states. When an individual looked up to by millions disrespects the flag and belittles it, the flag looses it’s meaning. The flag is what represents the United States, especially to the soldiers.…

“ …...public schools throughout the United States are adopting uniform dress policies.” The writer of “School Uniforms: Panacea or Band-Aid?” from Education World wrote this sentence in order to show that even if parents and students dislike or like uniforms, no matter what schools are increasing the policies for them. Many people argue the importance of school uniforms but in reality, there are many downsides to them. They don’t make students feel special, it costs parents more money, and can cause bullying in many schools.…

Every country has their own hat styles, in the United States the baseball cap, in England the London bobby's helmet, in Greece the fisherman's hat, in France the beret and so on. In Vietnam, the conical pleasant hat, or non la, serves as a very important tool used by everyone. The non la, translates "leaf hat," because it is made out of leaves and is also very light and thin. The non la is used by villagers for protection from the sun, and it is also used as a fan in the hot and dry weather. The non la is also a symbol of beauty because it shows the very poor, simple life of a Vietnamese farmer.…
