Andromeda
Now Time’s Andromeda on this rock rude,
With not her either beauty’s equal or
Her injury’s, looks off by both horns of shore,
Her flower, her piece of being, doomed dragon’s food.
Time past she has been attempted and pursued
By many blows and banes; but now hears roar
A wilder beast from West than all were, more
Rife in her wrongs, more lawless, and more lewd.

Her Perseus linger and leave her tó her extremes?—
Pillowy air he treads a time and hangs
His thoughts on her, forsaken that she seems,
All while her patience, morselled into pangs,
Mounts; then to alight disarming, no one dreams,
With Gorgon’s gear and barebill, thongs and fangs.

Brothers
How lovely the elder brother’s
Life all laced in the other’s,
Lóve-laced!—what once I well
Witnessed; so fortune fell.
When Shrovetide, two years gone,
Our boys’ plays brought on
Part was picked for John,
Young Jóhn: then fear, then joy
Ran revel in the elder boy.
Their night was come now; all
Our company thronged the hall;
Henry, by the wall,
Beckoned me beside him:
I came where called, and eyed him
By meanwhiles; making my play
Turn most on tender byplay.
For, wrung all on love’s rack,
My lad, and lost in Jack,
Smiled, blushed, and bit his lip;
Or drove, with a diver’s dip,
Clutched hands down through clasped knees—
Truth’s tokens tricks like these,
Old telltales, with what stress
He hung on the imp’s success.
Now the other was bráss-bóld:
Hé had no work to hold
His heart up at the strain;
Nay, roguish ran the vein.
Two tedious acts were past;
Jack’s call and cue at last;
When Henry, heart-forsook,
Dropped eyes and dared not look.
Eh, how áll rúng!
Young dog, he did give tongue!
But Harry—in his hands he has flung
His tear-tricked cheeks of flame
For fond love and for shame.
Ah Nature, framed in fault,
There ’s comfort then, there ’s salt;
Nature, bad, base, and blind,
Dearly thou canst be kind;
There

    Introduction: Every physics student has had a lot of experience with the force of gravity. Unfortunately, this experience is limited to the interaction between a very large object, the Earth, and much smaller objects that are very close to it. This is a very limited range of the possibilities. Software simulations of gravity allow physics students to explore a variety of other gravitational interactions between objects. These activities are designed to be used with the JAVA applet My Solar System that can be found on the Physics Education Technology (PhET) website at the University of Colorado at Boulder.…

    This play is a tale of two lovers, tied together by death due to ancient family hostility. Throughout the play, this couple, madly in love, made every effort to see each other. The love-struck pair secretly wed and planned to escape Verona together. Despite their families’ many quarrels, true love prevailed; they died in each other’s embraces and the feud between the Montagues and the Capulets came to an end. In Romeo and Juliet, a sweetly painful drama, Shakespeare uses metaphors, oxymorons, and foreshadowing to convey powerful emotions.…

    Mark's Alas Babylon

    I think what you said in your first paragraph is very interesting. You made a good point that it is harder for one person to make a change compared to a group of people. I think this has been shown throughout different literature. In Alas Babylon, Mark sends his wife and children to live with his survivalist brother. Throughout the novel, the group continues to grow and strive. The group ultimately choses to stay as a group at the end of the novel. I found this interesting because when you think of movies or book, whenever a person is alone, something bad or harmful usually happens. Strength usually comes in numbers. This can be looked at in a positive or negative way. For example, the Nazi party can be considered as a group of people who established…

    Between Heaven and Earth

    "Between Heaven and Earth" features the dynamic physical theatre performer Stace Callaghan as she attends a "Boot Camp for the Soul". Recently performed at the Powerhouse, the show is a pilgrimage through time, space and soul as it traverses the crevasse between psychological breakdowns and spiritual breakthroughs. Callaghan has said that the show is an "offering of healing" and she has successfully achieved this through the manipulation of dramatic styles, elements and conventions. This intention can be likened to the aim of Greek tragedies, in which the audience would experience a form of emotional cleansing called "catharsis". Throughout the play the tragedy would lead the audience to the realisation that other people suffer much more than them, and consequently the audience felt "ekstasis" or a state of relief. Through a discussion of human context, mood and symbol, it will be discussed how the show was constructed to facilitate "catharsis" and "ekstasis" and consequently become an "offering of healing".…

    Pluto And Venus

    Because we are planetary creatures, when most people think about space colonization they usually envision homes on Mars or perhaps Earth's moon. Colonization of those bodies is in fact much less desirable than orbital colonization, even though Mars and the Moon are the only practical solid bodies suitable for colonization in the solar system, at least for the next few centuries. Venus is far too hot. Mercury experiences extreme temperatures, as the days and nights are so long. Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, and Uranus have no solid surface i.e. they have a gaseous surface. Pluto is very far away. Comets and asteroids have too little gravity for a surface colony, although some have suggested that an asteroid could be hollowed out. This is…

    Mercury Planet

    • 395 Words
    • 2 Pages

    Mercury is the second smallest planet in the solar system. It is 4,879 kilometers across. Compare that with our moon, which is 3456 km across, and you can see that mercury is not very big. In fact, Jupiter's moons Ganymede and Callisto and Saturn's moon Titan are bigger! Even though those moons are bigger, Mercury weighs a lot more than they do because it is made of mostly metal and rock. In fact, Mercury has the most metals for its size of any planet in the solar system. Mercury is also the closest planet to the sun. Here you can see Mercury pass in front of the sun. This is called a "transit". It goes around the sun in 88 days. Mercury rotates on its axis (like a top) two times for every three times it goes around the sun. This means that days on Mercury are really weird! Since it rotates so slow and goes around the sun so fast, if you were standing on the surface of Mercury (I wouldn't suggest it!) you would see the sun rise in the east for a while, then dip back down towards the horizon, then zip over to the west to set! The sun would be above the horizon for about 60 days.…
