Here are our favorite ways to get rid of any negative distractions.

#1. Hide your phone.

Put your cell phone in a bowl and place your desk on top of four bowls. This way it’s too much work to get your cell phone out from under your desk.

#2. Find a quiet place.

Go study some place that has no devices like a classroom or the library

#3. Get snacks first.

Bring your snacks onto your desk so then you don’t find yourself wandering over to the fridge every two minutes.

#4. Clean your room before you start studying.

It won’t be a reason to stop what you’re doing to pick up the mess around you.

#5. Close the door.

Don’t get distracted by noises caused by your roommates. Make sure to close the door so that way you can focus on what you’re doing.

#6. Turn off your internet access.

If the internet is distracting you from writing then turn it off. Go in a location where you won’t have internet access like outside.

#7. Take a deep breath and relax.

Sometimes it’s a good idea to close your eyes, take a deep breath, and relax. This will help reset your mind and get you ready for the task in front of you.

#8. Ask for privacy.

Perhaps we have a great spot to write but someone is distracting you in the room. Try asking nicely for some privacy while you work.

#9. Be prepared.

Place all of your notes in front of you. This will help your mind be focused and in the right mindset to write.

#10. Get a glass of water.

Hydrate your body by drinking lots of water. This will keep your mind clear and away from distractions.
