I chose to write about a difficult decision I had to make years ago. I had to choose between leaving my family in hope of employment, or continue to let tax money support all of us. It was the best decision I have ever made. Starting truly from nothing, to living a normal happy life, and none of this was possible without my wife. She is the true warrior. She stuck by me through this whole thing. She always supported my decisions. It was a very confusing time in my life, but I had to do what was best for my family. In March of 2008, I was married to my wife, Lorene. I was 18 years old and ready to start a family. I was stupid. I made decent money working construction, but never expected to be laid off. My first son was born in October of 2008. So I got the family that I wanted, I just didn’t have a job now. We lived in Yucca Valley, California, where my Mother rented a home to us. She was a recovering alcoholic. She lived in Arizona with her husband at the time. Her name was Lari Lee Packer. I know, boys first name. Doctors told her that if she ever drank alcohol again, she would die. After I told her husband many times not to bring alcohol in the house, he continued. So in January of 2009, my Mother spent a few weeks drinking with her husband, and died. She was 44 years old. Immediately after her death, people were calling, and showing up at my Mother’s house in California. A lot of the people that showed up wanted me to sign papers to take over my Mother’s debt. My older brother had already advised me to refuse. The other party of people that came were there only to inform us that we had 24 hours to get out. My life was falling apart. We didn’t have any family in the area, nor any transportation. I was terrified. We ended up staying at a motel for two weeks, then moved down to the city of San Bernardino, where we lived with Lorene’s

It was Monday, May 30th, 2011. My family was driving home from a hotel we were staying at in Virginia, after going to Kings Dominion for my birthday day the day before. On the way home, we stopped at a Cracker Barrel for breakfast. During our meal, we got a call from my aunt telling us that my uncle, my mother’s brother, was in the hospital. Only a few days before he had moved back to Guatemala without saying goodbye to me. Once we were back on the road, my mother continued to get phone calls updating us about what was happening down there, as each call came through we all became more and more anxious wait for the answer. Then it came it just wasn't the answer we were hoping for, my mother began pushing on the walls of the car as if they were…

    2. English Reformation: Henry VIII had greater political control over England after the Act of Supremacy in 1534. The monarch was now the head of the English church. This lays the foundation of the nation-state as one national gov’t became more in charge of national affairs. After Henry VIII dissolved the monasteries, the monarchy had even greater control of English land. This was the biggest land transfer in Eng. history.…

Why one makes a choice ADN or BNS is clearly stated: not enough time, family obligations, any change in pay for the same responsibilities, and getting a Bachelors degree in another field is appealing to some. There is not enough credit given to the doors that a BSN degree opens for a nurse. There is not enough encouragement or incentives from the employer to the ADN to pursue a higher education.…

Throughout the decades, human beings from a small age start learning the characteristics of a male and female. Whether it is from media, clothing and to the way one is brought up, society has similar views of what it means to be a man or a women. Men are envisioned to be strong, aggressive, successful, and someone who avoids feminine characteristics. Women are perceived to be submissive, delicate, passive, dependent, vulnerable, having the ability to care for children and at times worthless. These views of gender identity have been engraved in humanities minds due to the amount of exposure to television, advertisements and the way one is raised in their households.…

Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “the moral arc of the universe bends at the elbow of justice.” In the short story, “Gentlemen Your Verdict”, twenty men and their captain become trapped in their submarine after an explosion. Their captain, Captain Oram, then unjustly sacrifices fifteen of his men to save five others. He takes it upon himself to make a life or death decision for fifteen innocent men. Justice is important to regulating actions and preserving virtue in society. In some cases murder can be justified (such as self defense), but in the case of Captain Oram, fifteen accounts of first-degree murder cannot. Captain Oram’s cowardice hasty judgment, and no one’s right to play God caused the death of these men. Captain Oram is not justified for the deaths of fifteen of his men.…

Why did my mom decide to move into a house where the owner didn't want to talk about it, but I think she moved here because we couldn't afford our old house because my step dad's source of income wasn't here anymore. When I typed in my address and the first thing I saw was tons of Wikipedia and websites on my house. I was shocked to see so many, when I clicked one way my jaw dropped like Pacquiao in the match vs Mayweather.. What I saw was disturbing, there have been many reports of family death in that house we lived in. Now it all made sense, that's why those boys would always call my house “That scary house on the block”. I needed to inform my mom about this right away, I wasn't looking forward to die. People said was a ghost others said it was a monster what every the hell it was, I knew I wasn't going to get in its…

Anthony Robbins once said “It’s in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped.” People make so many quick decisions unconsciously, whereas other decisions are lamented over. Society makes choices and creates opinions through deep mental thought which is influenced by preference, logic, feelings, and reflection. Some people may even question whether free will is a believable concept. Others believe it is all within our own power to make decisions that will lead to greater happiness. Little decisions lead to big consequences because when small and simple decisions are made, big decisions are to come, choices indicate character, and every decision made impacts other decisions.…

After working for JPMorgan Chase for 7 years I was laid off April of 2013 and it’s a year that I have been without a job has made me realize that I had to change my life around, plan for a new career and going back to school really put a damper in my life. Change in a new career is very scary and thought of going back to school that I have not attended since my oldest daughter was born was even scarier. Not only those challenges occurred but during this time I was engaged and married a few weeks before I was laid off. Now I have brand new family to care for, my wife, her two kids and my high school daughter came to live with us. Moved in to a one bedroom apartment with 5 people, no job, receiving unemployment, my wife also had no job except for what she receives for her son’s SSI got really challenging. Yes, of course negative thoughts and negative attitude started settling in. Job application after job applications no calls and no interviews for 4-6 months. No one was hiring and especially I being over qualified for some jobs or no degree set me back even more. This was a huge life changing experienced in my life ever. Knowing that my sisters and mom had their own families to care for and my wife’s family going through the same similar situations got even harder. My unemployment was running out and knowing that there was no extension by the end of December was another negative outcome to the situation.…
