A self-employed business man once said, “The best example of leadership is leading by example” (Jerry McClain). He describes a true leader, a pioneer whose morals and selflessness guide her to guide others. She is an inspiration, and a beacon of hope for all to follow. I share this passion for helping and guiding by example, and as a member of the National Junior Honor Society, I would seek to better the community just as I do every day inside and outside of the classroom.…

It is also important to treat each other as equals, preventing the idea of dominance or superiority to go to one's head, as everyone's contribution to a common goal should be appreciated. In addition, I try my best to round-out myself in pursuing other interests though extracurricular activities. I have been taking piano lessons for over 5 years; From this, I learned early on that one's determination and integrity are essential things to build and keep in order to accomplish set goals. Furthermore, I try my best to seek new ways to benefit our community. In my church, I often take the position of a needed altar server if more servers are necessary in order to carry out the mass. I have also created numerous congratulatory cards for new mothers in hospitals during my freshman year. These experiences I have had have changed the approach I have taken on in life, allowed me to gain new skills and perspectives, and - hopefully - given me the qualities needed in a National Honor Society…

If you are willing to persevere, you are certainly able to lead others through the road you've walked. Leaders help themselves and others to do the right things. They set direction and build an inspiring vision. Leadership is about mapping out where you need to go to "win" as a team; and it is dynamic, exciting, and inspiring. Through the academic program I was able to acquire leadership and become a role model for younger students. Most importantly I led others by being an example through my own victories. As a leader to others, you are able to make a big difference, and that difference affects the way they view their future and themselves. I learned to care for others and their needs, and I have seen the impact of the support I have given to them. I remember clearly that I used to struggle myself, as well; the feeling of never having someone there to inspire and encourage felt as if I had to venture into an unknown world. I knew for a fact that the Latino Scholars program was right for me. I wanted to lead others, motivate them to do their best, and most importantly give them a…

At a young age, I waited on the benches for my mother to retrieve me from carpool. I observed my peers laughing together as they walked towards the gym for after-school sports. My mother, who soon arrived to find her kindergarten son sitting in solitude, scheduled numerous parent-teacher conferences. She would share her concerns while my teachers assured her that my "individuality" was what attracted friends to me. I had been a leader rather than a follower regardless of the opinion of others, and, to this day, that has remained static. I have evolved from that careless kindergarten leader, to an aspiring college graduate.…

When joining a club you become involved with the school and your surroundings, For example, I knew a lot of people at school, but after joining the club I joined other things that got me a connection with the people who worked in the community, other schools, and also the people who worked in offices. It showed me ways on how to communicate with different people and people who have the same goals, so I could get a better understanding of what’s going on around me and be a team. This benefited me for the better because I learned how to become better-rounded and learn other great key concepts to life. For example, I learned how to manage my time efficiently because of the fact that I was trying to fit time in for homework, practice, club duties, and me time in my life. I am a great leader and throughout my high school career I have taken every opportunity I could to display this. For three out of my four years I have participated as a Muskoka Woods Leader. This required me to spend a week at a summer camp at which I would lead a group of grade 7s through a series of fun activities. Being a leader at this camp wasn't always fun and games though. I had encountered many situations with the grade 7s in which I would have to improvise and apply my knowledge of leadership to sort out. For example, during one of our games we would play, there was a little boy who was sitting off on the side not participating. I went over to talk to the boy to find out what was wrong. When I found out that he didn't understand how to play the game I knew exactly how to fix it. I brought him over to a corner and me and him played our own little one on one version of the game. I taught him how to play and I played with him until he was finally ready to join the other grade 7s. As well as being a Muskoka Leader, in my grade 11 year, I was a Link Leader for my high school. This was different from being a Muskoka Leader because this time I was working with grade 9 students who were entering high school. Throughout the year I worked with the grade 9s giving them secret tips and tricks about how they could survive their freshman year of high…

All throughout school I have participated in many clubs and organizations that have not only molded me as a person, but have helped me to develop responsibility, and leadership skills. Currently I am an active member of National Honor Society, and DECA. Both of these organizations, provided by my high school, encourage leadership, volunteer work, and have high expectations for behavior, and grades. Being in National Honor Society has shown me to continually do for others in need. There are always opportunities to get involved with the community, and even create drives for things like stuffed animals, and blankets for children who are sick in the hospital, and “Care Catties” for cancer patients, which include tissues, water bottles, hard candy, and lotion. DECA is another organization I am involved in at Frenship High School. DECA is a business organization for high school marketing students looking to learn, develop and compete in a competitive event. I have been a member since my sophomore…
