Two Minute Speech
The cause of our war with Iraq all started with the collapse of the twin towers on September 11th in 2001. When the planes crashed into the World Trade Towers in New York, Americans were devastated and in disbelief of the act of terrorism. There was also a plane that crashed into a field and the last plane crashed into part of the Pentagon. All around the world people was mourning the loss of many innocent and lost loved Americans. After that, I feared and was scared that we would have another terrorist attack. Then a few days later President George W. Bush declared war against Iraq overseas. I remember when we first went to war, I felt that it was a good idea but now I feel that the war was not worth it. We have spent millions of dollars on this war. I feel the money could be better spent on effects such as schools, health care, social security, and poverty. Too many of our American troops and Iraq civilians have been killed. The final cost of the war are sky high and we aren't able to collect those billions of dollars back. The integrity and the world opinion of the USA is at risk if we stay. I think our government thinks America is the almighty enforces of the world. The reality is we don't rule the world and don‘t have to help all the time with other countries problems. Think of this, what if a member of your family or one of your closest friends ended up over in Iraq and then died a few months later. How would you feel? Think about it. Think about the families that have lost people they love because of the war. Think of the officers and soldiers that are over there risking their lives for American freedom. I think about those people everyday and thank them how they serve this country to protect our freedom. I think about the people who I have known throughout my life who are entering or thinking about joining the military and if one of them were killed in combat. I
