The Importance of Punctuality
The Importance of Punctuality : Lateness is a sign of poor time management skills When you are late for appointments, meetings or work, you show a lack of respect for other people’s time as well as your own. Punctuality is a problem for many people.

How can we ensure that we keep appointments by arriving on time? Here are some suggestions:

1. Make up your mind that you will be punctual from now on. In many cases lateness is caused by a lack of commitment to arrive on time. Have the right mindset.

2. Record the commitment in your planner and also record the time you must leave the house or office in order to arrive on time. Plan to arrive 5 to 10 minutes early.

3. If you have a fair distance to travel, always allow more time than you think it will take.

4. Don’t be trapped by the one last thing syndrome. If you’re ready to leave and it's still early, leave anyway. Utilize the time at the other end rather than trying to finish one more task before you leave.

5. If you are not a morning person, but have early morning commitments, set the alarm a little earlier. Some of us may need to go to bed a little earlier to make this work.

When it comes right down to it, punctuality is a habit that can be developed. It takes great effort at first, but eventually simply happens. Habits are formed by repetition. If you want to acquire the habit of punctuality, you must repeat this behavior again and

Upon walking into my office each day, I arrive an hour before my first appointment is scheduled to arrive. This helps give me a chance to relax, and prepare myself for the session. It is also important for me that I meet with each client on time and end the session on time. This is how I show respect to those I am working with. Another rule of thumb is to always keep thirty minutes open between appointments. I work and eight hour day with an hour lunch, so normally I schedule four to five clients a day. My first scheduled appointment always begins at nine a.m. and my last one is scheduled for three p.m. This allows me to go to work at eight a.m. and be free from four to five p.m. before leaving, so that I can prepare for the next day. Each session is approximately one hour long in duration.…

Being on time is important in everything you do especially in the military. By not being on time you can cause problems for not just you but other people as well. For instance if you are to be replacing someone and you are not on time you can make that person late because they had to wait for you. By just one person being late can disrupt the events of an entire day. An example of this is a platoon is going out to a field exercise for training and a soldier is late by fifteen minutes that can cause that entire platoon to be behind in getting out to the field exercise disrupting the agenda set by the platoon leader and platoon sargent. If you are late to an appointment you are taking up valuable time that could be used by another person. Another reason it is always important to be on time is if you are going to a job interview and you are not on time you could loose the position because it is a first impression of how your work ethic could be. Even if you just make plans with some friends to see a movie, you should be on time because if you are late you and your friends will miss part of the movie. In the military you can receive sever punishment under the Uniform Code of Military Justice for not being on time. Some of the consequences can include loss of rank, loss of pay, and having to pull extra duty while under restriction. Repeatedly being late in the military could lead to a discharge from service. Similarly if you are constantly late for civilian employment you will face punishment that could include having your hours cut back, your earnings garnished, or possibly fired from that position. After creating a history of being late to a point that you are let go from your job, it can become difficult to find future employment due to the fact that employers will contact your previous line of employment to find out why you were released from your position within that company. Further more after making a history to your friends, family and your employers of not…

Lateness of self, exams, and time demands are events that occur occasionally. When it does occur, my heart starts to beat fast; I become inpatient; and I prefer to keep quiet and not talk to anyone. When I feel like I am running behind for work, my heart starts to beat fast and because I start rushing I do not like to stop and talk to others because I feel like it will take up more of my time. There are a variety of things I can do to reduce the stress caused by these events. For one, I can manage my time better so I do not have to worry about running late for work. Second, because running late is my fault and not anyone else’s I can be less inpatient with others; maybe that will help…

Being late not only hurts my job, but me as an individual. I will lose the respect of my coworkers and it will hurt my chances of being promoted in the future. That will also affect my family. Being late is not something that I plan to make a habit of. I plan to teach my daughter the importance of being on time to school, work and anywhere else she goes. As a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps it is my responsibility to set the example for everyone around me. If I am late on a regular basis it will make those below me think that it is acceptable when it is not. By being late it shows poor leadership, bad initiative, and weakness to my peers. As an NCO in charge of funeral details it is important to be on time to the funerals. If I am late to a funeral I can cause more distress to the family that is already grieving their lost loved one. I wouldn’t appreciate it if I hired a worker who was repeatedly late so I don’t want to be that inconvenience for anyone else. It is very important that I make it to my appointments on time as well as coming in to work; it should not be any different between appointments or…

First of all, being always late has caused me so many problems, not only with my family and friends but also with my job and myself too. I am always late for my responsibilities at home such as picking up my son from school, or, picking up mi wife from her job. I am even late when I try to surprise her by having a romantic moment at home, which by the way, is not good at all if I want her to have a good concept from me. In the same way, being late to my job has caused several conflicts between my managers and me, since I am in the restaurant business, no lateness is allowed. For instance, a couple of weeks ago, I missed 3 tables and a bonus of $400 because I went 20 minutes late to work; if I would have gotten early to the place I would have not missed that money. As a result, I lost that money and got punished for a week at my job.…
