Reflection Paper on Technology in the Classroom
Reflection Paper

As I reflect on the revamping and upgrading of the technology department within the classrooms of the Kelsey Unified School District, I can see that many improvements have to be made. The purpose of the technology upgrade is to incorporate technology into the classroom. Within time technology within the classroom will help to raise or improve the students’ test scores at each grade level throughout the entire school district.

The teachers will benefit from the upgraded technology department because it will help the teachers to adapt to the students’ different learning styles because technology is a teaching tool. There are many different types of technology that can be used in the classroom:

• Smart Boards are used instead of the white boards or chalk boards. They can be used to teach interactive lessons in almost all of the major subjects, including math, spelling, language arts, etc. The technology equipment would be networked throughout the each school.
• Desktop computers are used by the teachers in the classroom to prepare or create lessons for the students or documents for the parents. The students will the desktop computers to complete their daily activities as a part of technology in the classroom.
• Laptops are used by the teachers when they need to complete work at home. Teachers do not have a great deal of spare time at school to get certain things done so they may need to work at home more frequently. Students may need to take laptops home in order to get their assignments done if they do not have access to a computer at their own homes.
• IPads or other types of tablets are used in some classrooms because they are portable. IPads make it very easy for the students to follow along and get their activities done quicker. The students can

Some people may argue that when using technology students will break the rules and not do what the devices are meant to be doing. Students are responsible enough to be trusted to do the work they are assigned, with the assistance of an electronic device. The schools that do believe in using technology to assist students, put rules in place to discipline students doing the wrong thing. If a child decides to break the rules then they will miss out on an education, so if they get a bad mark it will be their own fault for using their resources incorrectly. Students marks reflect on the way they used the technology, so they're effectively deciding what grade they receive by the way they use their device.…

For schools and universities, both have experienced many changes with the technology that is available. Instead of students having to go to the library to complete their work, most can now just walk into their classroom filled with new desktops and laptops. With the increase of technology in most schools, it is almost becoming a necessity for classrooms to have up to date technology for students. Students that have been able to work with laptops ever since elementary school get so used to the technology available that most find it just standard in classrooms today. In the classroom it does not stop with the computers, now teachers are having smart boards made and put into classrooms. But do these smart boards really help the students learn better? I highly doubt that a smart board in the classroom is going to help a student want to pay attention to another boring lecture of some moment of time in our history. Frankly, that smart board is all but making the teacher’s job easier. Or is it? What if that teacher or professor is a little older than some of us? Someone who is not used to having the high amounts of technology in today’s classrooms may not know how to work that smart board. All that does is waste time. The same can go for students who grew up in low income areas who are not used to working with computers. While others in the classroom are busy typing a paper, this student is probably sitting in the back wondering how to change his font. The fact is too much technology in the classroom can cause negatives for both the student and teacher in many ways.…

Advanced technology in the classroom prepares each student individually for the work force they intend to train for. Jobs today require computer work no matter what the job is. Secretaries need a computer for daily workload, doctors need technology for charting and communication with patients, and even mechanics need technology for diagnostic purposes. The way technology is benefiting the business world in adults is similar to how it can affect the classroom and children. Advanced technology in the classroom can allow students and teachers to virtually communicate and set goals toward the student's direct…

Schools around the world have been enhanced by the presence of technology. Whether someone is writing an essay on a laptop or studying the mysteries of the cosmos, advances in tech have changed education in ways such as the Smartboard. In classes, of various subjects, it seems no classroom is complete without a Smartboard. The interactive aspect of the boards assists people with kinesthetic and visual learner profiles which can peak interest in the subjects taught or makes it simpler for the students to understand and therefore hopefully hold on to the information better. Another technological advancement for learning is none other than the PC (personal computer) because of its access to many websites linked directly to education such as Google Classroom which is used for teachers to give assignments to students via Google Drive.…

Being a busy mother I know that I am guilty of handing my child an electronic of some sort such as; the IPad to keep him quiet while I get housework done. However I don’t know how I would feel if that were take place in his classroom; bringing technology into the classroom. Even though we had computers in the 90s, technology was fairly new and underdeveloped; we did not have smartphones and access to much information via technology. But I feel like as I progressed into high school and the technology was on the rise if something were to happen to the computer (which happened often) I was still taught the basic foundations on completing whatever task that was, without relying on the computer or other electronics like a calculator. I knew how to research information using encyclopedias and other books. Furthermore, I feel like bringing IPads, smart boards, and computers into the classroom space take away from the overall learning experience.…

When we got to use them everyone in our class was very excited and she reminded me of that during our interview. She believes that students are excited about receiving their own tablets next year and students who have financial issues this is a great way to help them develop these skills. Teachers have taken advantage of the technology movement now. With the ability to check plagiarism easier and a new way to educate students, teachers are enjoying their classes. Rather, technology can make learning more fun for students! By engaging the students into games that subliminally are actually teaching them a lesson. These students are now learning as they have fun in the process. For example, with the Smart Board, kids get to actually go up to the screen and using the special pens they get to select their answers. When I was volunteering at Yorba Elementary, I actually got to watch the kids do a lesson on math using the Smart Board. The teacher would select a student and the…
