Unrestricted access to the internet creates the opportunity for temptation to overrule maturity. Psychologist Dr. Victor Cline writes, “early exposure to obscene material, which is often degrading to women, may significantly distort children’s understanding of what constitutes healthy sexual behavior and relationships-particularly when it comes to the issue of gender roles and female sexuality.” Exposure to adult subjects without the understanding that comes with maturity creates a warped image of adult behaviors. In “Pros and Cons of Censorship” Prabhakar Pillai wrote “Censorship doesn’t mean restraining the expression of people, in fact it is imposed to protect them.” He provides a list of ways censorship can be used to keep from offending, enraging, or inciting individuals to conflict. He suggests religious censorship to avoid insulting or offending a religious community. He suggests censoring “the broadcast of events” which might trigger conflict. He points to the panic and rumors that were observed in the 2008 terrorist attack in Mumbai that could have been avoided with censorship of the events. Censorship can used for conflict avoidance by limiting awareness of events and or views which may be deemed
