Proof Fence Narrative
My parents own six rental houses around St. Cloud, so the majority of my summers are at these houses, fixing things, mowing, and remodeling. On this specific summer day in 2006, my dad and I were repairing a fence at the house that I have always referred to as the black shutter house. I wasn’t actually helping of course, I was running around the fenced in yard, picking the tiger lilies on the side of the house and doing whatever six year olds do. I remember walking over to my father’s silver pick-up truck and grabbing a socket wrench from his tool bucket. I guess I thought I was trying to help father fix the fence because I walked over to the fence gate that wasn’t attached to the rest of the fence and started hitting it. Now this fence wasn’t a simple wooden fence, it was a metal chain link fence where the top forms a sharp point, so when I hit the fence it fell down on me, crushing me and cutting open the back of my right leg. My father at the time of this tragic incident was on the other side of the detached garage, so when he heard me screaming he was by me in seconds, lifting me up and carrying me to the …show more content…
This story is how my father took care of me in a time of need, not leaving my side for a second. He stays strong and calm even in the worst situations. This normally wouldn’t be a stand out life lesson, but currently its something I need to know. I need to do the same things for my father, I need to stay strong for him and take care of him just like he did for me. In September my dad was diagnosed with stage four Lymphoma, and it changed everything for my family. For a few months all I could do was think about loosing my father, because I didn’t and still don’t know what will happen. I didn’t know if he would make it to graduation or if he would be around for many more years. My reaction was really selfish; all I could think of was myself and how I would manage to still live a normal

My father was diagnosed with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, and cirrhosis of the liver. The doctors then gave him two options; if he began taking his medications and stopped drinking he would receive the necessary treatments in order to enjoy a lengthy life without alcohol. Option two included taking his medications but not holding off on his drinking problem, the outcome of this would be my father passing a lot sooner than expected. My family and I were able to come together and realize the seriousness of his drinking problem. Once my father’s drinking decreased, he was a completely different man, creating a strong foundation for my family. As my relationship with my family improved, the rest of my life soon followed. During that time I started working at an elementary school that happened to be in a rough part of town and coaching a U12 boys soccer team. I quickly realized that I enjoyed working with the youth and noticed myself having positive productive relationships with troubled students due to the fact that I was able to relate to their problems in certain aspects.…

I waited out in the cold and snow for what seemed like forever. I eventually saw our car pull up to the park. I saw my dad and my brother get out of the car and hurry towards me. When they got to me, my dad picked me up and carried me to the car. We got in and he drove me home. Then he helped me get out of the car. The pain was so bad I had to hop to the door. Once inside our house, I hopped over to the couch, and laid down.…

We started talking and when she told me she had leukemia I was surprised how happy she seemed, so I asked her why she seems so happy when she knows she has a disease that’s life threatening, her response was “you only live once and if something were to happen to me the day after tomorrow I don’t want to have any regrets “like I wish I did that” I want to know that I lived my life to the fullest when it’s time for me to go.” When Tiffany told me that it inspired me because you don’t know what the future holds. Although this little girl had gone through intense sessions of chemotherapy somehow she still found the strength to influence…

His battle with leukemia outlasted his predicted time. His tough mentality brought him through countless doses of chemotherapy and two stem cell transplants. Watching him go through this process sparked the first curiosity with medicine I had ever experienced. When Boppa went into remission for the last time, he had one wish; he would go to his condo in Florida or he would die trying. Unable to provide necessary care in Florida, my Grandmother invited me to be the muscle that would help him up the stairs and off the toilet while he was there. Yet again, my curiosity in medicine was sparked while helping him deal with what seemed like a thousand different medicines that he required. The time came for me to go home and soon after, he fought his last battle with his disease. I missed him more than ever and I had a desire to not only uphold his…

It happened on a day like any other, but little did I know while I was sound asleep, that I might never have the chance to see my father ever again. It was around midnight when my father was on his way home on his motorcycle. He was only two blocks away from home when all of a sudden a car illegally ran a stop sign, took a sharp left turn, and caused the monstrous vehicle to collide with my father head on. His body flung over the hood, and he flew onto the side of the road. With no helmet on,…

It was Memorial Day 2014, my whole family was home for the first time in a long time. My family and I were all up at our shop welding a plow for my mom's new lavender field. We had been working hard on it since 11:00 in the morning. Kaden, my older brother, was welding, and my dad was grinding metal. They worked until it was finished that evening. Later that night, Kaden went into the living room to ask my dad a question, he looked out out the window and screamed at the top of his lungs, "THE SHOP IS ON FIRE, CALL 911!!!"…

I had a neck brace around my neck and IV’s stuck all in my arms. I started to panic, I was lost, confused and scared. My best friend was there in the ambulance trying to calm me down. But still, all I could think about was the reaction of my parents when they found out what happened. Once we got to the hospital, the paramedics took me to Emergency Care. The doctors ran many tests on me: MRI’s, CAT Scans, and X-Rays, whatever test you can name – they ran on me. As I waited for my results, the doctors came in and explained to me what happened. An intoxicated driver with a gun ran the red light and hit me in a head on collision. The driver not only totaled my mother’s car but also totaled his own car too. The good thing was that he was okay. I didn’t know what to be happier about; the fact that the other driver was fine or that the accident was not my fault. Selfish right? But I’m sure if you were me at the time, you would think the same thing.…
