o PBS Kids character appearances will attract increased attendance to MILO events. Many underserved families do not have the opportunity to interact with familiar characters that are broadcast into their homes everyday through PBS. Character appearances are effective promotional tools for attracting families that might otherwise be unreachable. o The $9,000 will be used to offset the cost of costume rentals and shipping which the station must cover. o WEDU is bringing nearly $68,000 of in-kind services to the project including more than $57,000 of on-air, print and social media promotion including promotional spots broadcast during PBS Kids programming prior to each event. o WEDU also will provide families with free codes for downloads of
