Nap, Recess and Art
It has been rumored that school, or attempting to extended school days. If officials decided to give students longer school days, they should consider putting nap, recess and art back into to the schools. These three activities have been proven to be a stress reliever, and also help student start a healthier life from an early age.
Although nap is mostly for pre-schoolers and kindergarten age students, taking it out of the school system was a bad idea. At such a young age, these young children need to take time and rest their bones, and minds. Nap time gives them that opportunity. Taking a nap can increase health, well-being, and intelligence, and productivity also.
Recess is another fun activity that all students loves, even college students. Being able to go outside after completing a hard test is just the relief one needs. For some the little few minute that is given after class “recess”, is the only physical activity they my pursue. Recess gives students a chance to interact with other, y building social skills. It also allows students to develop character, and cooperation skills. Physical activity helps reduce cardiovascular disease, helps prevents obesity, and even increase test scores.
Then art, art is an activity was students can use imagination, creativity, self expression. Brain research confirms that art education strengthens students’ problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Music, singing, drawing, all these things are self expression of one’s self. By allowing art into the school, students have a free and easy way to open up and express themselves without fear of being judged.
In conclusion, I believe that if school days are going to be longer, then these three activities should be consider a part of the day. It gives students a chance to open up and explore new things, meet new people, learn new material. It also had benefits, like healthier life style. If a child

His claim that recess is important to a child’s development is strong because he suggests the many benefits and supports them with statistics, examples, and appeals to the audience of active adults who understand the benefits of recess and exercise.…

Many elementary schools have reduced or eliminated recess during the school day in an attempt to improve test scores. That has been especially true since the No Child Left Behind Act introduced in 2001. In order to allow for more instruction time for achievement standards to be met, more time was spent in the classroom resulting in something having to be cut out of the school day. In most cases, that is recess. However, doing so has not had the desired results and children have been losing out on very important aspects of their development. Having recess is vital to the development of children because it helps them to perform better academically in school, it gives them the opportunity to learn the social skills needed throughout life, and it improves their physical well-being.…

“About 40% of public schools have already cut, or plan on cutting recess from their school day” (Education Reporter, 1). Along with that more and more schools are now taking away physical education classes to make more time for math, reading, and writing. The main concern with taking these out of schools is that it will contribute to the rising issue of childhood obesity. Also, children benefit from short recess breaks throughout the day in many different ways. The last reason recess and P.E. should be required is that physical activity is a very important part of the development of a young child. Academics and test scores are important; however educators must look out for the health and well-being of every child. I believe that recess and physical education class should not be taken out of schools; they should be required as part of every day curriculum.…
