“The silence was brocken by each footstep I took”

“The sound of silence was deafening, all I could hear the was wind rattling, my heart thumping as if it was going to rip out from my rib cage and a small ringing sound”

“The fear that consumed me was like hell fire, burning me up inside”

“I froze as if my body was perfectly carved like this”

“My hands were clutch on the side of the railing knowing if I let got its game over and something would something big”

What it is actually about:

I was home alone trying to get to sleep after watch a horror movie BAD IDEAD!
Every corner of my room was filled with my fear but not knowing what I was scared about or what of . Nothing in my room was scary however the sound of the storm terriefied me, every rain drop that hit the ground I could hear it everytime it was as if the rain was filled with screats and now it was letting it go. Rain keeps all the hidden screats and stories we tell because we now it will keep them but I felt like I heard every scret. I prayed for it too stop but nothing happened it still consumes me. It just wants to be heard. But we don’t want to listen. It broke my heart how much it has kept.I supposed it will all make sense one day. All I wanted to do in my life was to get good grades and be healthy but listening has made me realize theres more I could do.

It seems like hours pasts

“All late readers know this sinking feeling of sinking of falling/ into the liquid feeling of falling asleep then rising again”(13-14). Late readers know how it feels when falling asleep, the pull of sleep, and the want to keep reading pulling you out. Sleep acts as liquid because you can sink down into sleep or rise up and out, as if in the water. In Billy Collins’s poem “Reading Myself to Sleep” He explains how on one dark night, with only a lamp for reading, he lies in bed reading. He wants to keep reading but slowly falls to sleep. The author struggles to stay awake but succumbs to sleep. In the poem “Reading Myself to Sleep” by Billy Collins, figurative language is used to create a better understanding of the poem for the reader, including metaphor, simile, and personification.…

The room was eerily quiet, aside from the sound of a latex glove and a creaky bed. The loudest and most unnerving of them all was her heartbeat, which was slow, dangerously slow. Most of the noise around her was drowned out by the beating of her heart, drifting her away from her surroundings.…

In the poem, “Fear restrains”, a variety of literary techniques were implemented. In line 1, it states that “the blackest screams tried to discourage me”, which personifies a scream as having the ability to discourage. As the poem continues, an allusion is mentioned in line 4 as it states “is worse than lying to your precious God.” A metaphor is present in line 7 that compares knots and nests to the emotion of fright, “the knots and nests of fright ought to unweave.” The final line personifies fear by stating that “fear must take our greatest urge and…

This was appropriate, as it was the greatest silence of the three, wrapping the others inside itself. It was deep and wide as autumn's ending. It was heavy as a great riversmooth stone. It was the patient, cut-flower sound of a man who is waiting to die. CHAPTER ONE…

”Just like that. From a hundred miles an hour to asleep in a nanosecond. I wanted so badly to lie down next to her on the couch, to wrap my arms around her and sleep. Not fuck, like in those movies. Not even have sex. Just sleep together, in the most innocent sense of the phrase. But I lacked the courage and she had a boyfriend and I was gawky and she was gorgeous and I was hopelessly boring and she was endlessly fascinating. So I walked back to my room and collapsed on the bottom bunk, thinking that if people were rain, I was drizzle and she was a hurricane.”…

Every night that winter he said aloud into the dark of the pillow Half-past four Half-past four till his brain had gripped the words and held them fast. Then he fell asleep at once, as if a shutter had fallen and lay with his face turned to the clock so that he could see it first thing when he woke. It was half-past four to the minute, every morning. Triumphantly pressing down the alarm-knob of the clock, which the dark half of his mind had outwitted, remaining vigilant all night and counting the hours as he lay relaxed in sleep, he huddled down for a last warm moment under the clothes, playing with the idea of lying abed for this once only. But he played with it for the fun of knowing that it was a weakness he could defeat without effort just as he set the alarm each night for the delight of the moment when he woke and stretched his limbs, feeling the muscles tighten, and thought Even my brain even that I can control every part of myself. Luxury of warm rested body, with the arms and legs and fingers waiting like soldiers for a word of command Joy of knowing that the precious hours were given to sleep voluntarily for he had once stayed awake three nights running, to prove that he could, and then worked all day, refusing even to admit that he was tired and now sleep seemed to him a servant to be commanded and refused. The boy stretched his frame full-length, touching the wall at his head with his hands, and the bedfoot with his toes then he sprung out, like a fish leaping from water. And it was cold, cold. He always dressed rapidly, so as to try and conserve his night-warmth till the sun rose two hours later but by the time he had on his clothes his hands were numbed and he could scarcely hold his shoes. These he could not put on for fear of waking his parents, who never came to know how early he rose. As soon as he stepped over the lintel, the flesh of his soles contracted on the chilled earth, and his legs began to ache with cold. It was night the stars…

My mom yelled “dinner!”, and I sat down in our little kitchen. It was November 15, and it was colder than usual. Both of my parents were looking at me, a sadness covering their face in a way that is hard to describe. I noticed the tears in their eyes. They were squeezing each other’s hands, telling me how much they loved me and wanted me to have everything that life could ever offer. “I know”. The only words that came out of my mouth. Everything was so quiet, and not in a peaceful way. It was like the silence before the storm. My thoughts started to wander. The last time a silence like that was covering our kitchen was the day I found out that my brother was dead- brutally killed by a bomb on his way to school.…
