I felt proud after my son was born it gave me a new sense of responsibility and helped make me to who I am today. The partying and going out ever Friday was no longer important. Watching Spongebob and building forts are my Friday nights now.…
Loving your daughter and she is the best thing that has ever happened to you and the hardest part is letting her go. In the song, “There Goes My Life” by Kenny Chesney it explains about how there was kid who just found out that him and his girlfriend are having a kid and he was nervous because he was one himself and as they had the kid which was a girl he realized that he loves his little girl so much and the hardest thing he’d have to do was let her go as she got older. The father was nervous at first but then he couldn’t imagine what it would be like without her and like every father he never wanted to lose her, or for her to grow up.…
It was the morning of my special day, there was so much to do and not much time to get it done. I had a 7 a.m. hair appointment to sweep my brown hair up in preparation for the crown t I would receive during the ceremony. I then had to rush back home to dress in my light pink ball gown before heading to the church.…
I will never forget that morning my mom came into my room to wake me up and tell me we had to go to the hospital. Several hours later Ava was born! I will remember all my life the first time I got to hold her. It was about 1 hour after she was born, she was so tiny! She didn’t cry much at first, and when she did it wasn’t that loud. Things have definitely changed, she likes to cry now, and really loud too. Besides that I love her so much!…
A bunch of my family members was at my graduation. They were very excited for me and cheering very loud because I was about to get my high school diploma. When I got to the gym, everybody was getting ready to walk to the football field. I was thinking that I had finally succeeded and reached the day I had been waiting on since ninth grade. I was happy that I finally reached my goal to graduate on the night that ended high school life and started my college life. Everyone was always asking me what I wanted to do in college after graduation, but I was not sure because I like to cook different things. It is always fun to try…
The day of September 1, I missed class to be with my family in Memphis. My mom wanted everyone in our immediate family to gather together because my brother was leaving for the army. It was such an exciting week because I haven’t been home to see them in about year prior. My brother has recently graduated from high school and also turned 18. I am beyond proud of the person he has become, so to see him all grown up making the decision to leave home brought tears to my eyes.…
It is unbelievable how time flies before our eyes when it comes to raising our babies. One moment I was joyful to find out I was expecting a beautiful baby girl, Jazlyn Nicole, to the next moment where I was heartbroken to know that my time with my baby was over since she was off to college. As parents, we play a huge role in their lives since we are the ones that mold our children into the adults they become since we see all the potential they have and encourage them through life. Throughout the raising of my child I was able to learn a lot.…
I now realize all of the unspoken sacrifices that my parents have made for me so that I can chase after my American dream. I’ve come to understand how much my beloved parents mean to me. In the end, they matter more than anything else in this entire world. Their unconditional love and support is truly valuable and indispensable and is worth so much more to me than the materialistic aspects in…
I remember the day clearer than any other. I was in 5th grade. My mom sat me down and told me my father would be living in another home. They called it “temporary.” “It will end” “It is not divorce”, they said. This, age nine, is when the constant packing, unpacking and swapping from house to house began. This lasted about a year until my Dad moved back in. We were whole, again. That was the happiest month I can really remember. Having two parents say goodnight to me, not having to repeat each story twice, and meals with someone at each head of the table. Everything was perfect. Until we decided to all go out to a family dinner. At this dinner my parents dropped one word.…
We went to the hospital I was then finally able to say “I’m a big sister.” I was so unbelievably excited, all I wanted to do was go in there. We got to finally go in the hospital room and finally get to see my new baby sister! We went into there and the second I laid eyes on her I was automatically filled with happiness. My mom held her, then my dad, then it was my…
Never living in a house of our own. By the age of 16, I was both mom and dad to my little sister. Living with my grandmother. Sharing a room and bed with my sister. I can distinctly remember lying awake at night, and looking at her, unperturbed, pure face and wanting so much more for her.…
As a parent it would be very hard for any middle class adults to pay college four times. What a huge achievement it is to not have to worry about paying for college. An honor must go out to the parents who were by their side each year.…
At the age of nineteen, instead of partying and hanging out with my friends, I had to become a mature and responsible adult. On October the 25th I got the most shocking news a teenage girl could ever imagine. There was so many thoughts going through my mind, I was scared, nervous, shocked and did not know what to expect from this situation. What will my family and friends think of me? My friends and I made a pack that we will never have children. I broke our secret society code as we would have called it. Becoming a teen mom would be the most influential life lesson experience throughout my life that contribute to the strong woman I am today.…
The most memorable time in my life was my daughter's cleft palate surgery. It was January 4th when my daughter and I had to leave El Paso, TX to take a trip to Austin, TX. It was a long drive for a little baby like her at the time she was only two years old. Early that morning my parents took us to the bus station. The bus was leaving at 6 a.m. in the morning to get to Austin, TX at midnight. My daughter and I felt it was the longest drive ever as the bus was very full and kept stopping. Finally, we arrived to Austin at midnight. I had to walk around for some time until I found a cab to take us to the hotel. I was scared and nervous. I was all alone with my daughter in a city we didn't know. We arrived to the hotel and finally felt safe and some peace. As soon as we walked in the room, I called my family and let them know we were good.…
All the good moments that I once had with my beloved ones have a very special space in my heart. Some of the most special moments that I can know remember would mean nothing if I had not the company and warm of my family. Among all these important moments, I can know remember all the Christmas Eve, when my father and I used to launch fireworks and then would come with the rest of the family around the manger.…
