Technology can be defined as science applied to practical purposes. From day to day, our world has been changed gradually from one condition to another. New ideas always come up to the minds of people to make the living better. Nowadays, technology has advanced in tremendous leaps and bounds. We cannot image the world without technological advances. Technology has brought many inventions. Among them are computers, mobile phones, weapons ,cars, aeroplanes, internet and many more. “These inventions have prevented exhausting labour and is now dedicated to trivial conveniences” (Skinner,1991)002E. They have made life not only easier, but also exciting and more comfortable. Nevertheless, some people argue that science can destroy mankind. It is also obvious that we are close on an era where technology is limited only by our imagination. Therefore the most frequently asked question is: Does technology go the right way and will it save or ruin our civilization?
Science and technology play very important roles in this modern world. It can be argued that modern technology makes life easier and more dignified for most of people. The first and the major advantage is that medical science is very progressive and vastly available. Without the needed technology a lot of people would struggle with their health. More complicated treatments are being carried out successfully, by means of science and technology. These include surgeries, heart and kidney transplant, artificial inseminations and many others. .These treatments are saving many innocent lives. The point is to spread it, and reach with medicine help to the poor nations of the Third World. Again, advanced technology improves industry by making it more effective and, what is vital today, safer for environment. Modern technology has introduced various sophisticated machines into our industries which is increasing productivity at a very fast rate. Work that required more time and was carried out by labour force is now done by machines faster and more efficiently. Moreover when we look at TV, personal computer, mobile phone or internet for instance is quite obvious that all this inventions have been made in the last 20 years. These devices has indeed, boosted the transfer of information and messages rapidly. Gone are the days when one had to wait for several months to receive mails from other people across the world. We are now able to send and receive messages quickly through mobile phones. The foremost target of internet has always been the communication. Internet has excelled beyond the expectations. Still; innovations are going on to make it faster, more reliable. By the advent of computer’s Internet, our earth has reduced and has attained the form of a global village.Now, we can communicate in a fraction of second with a person who is sitting in the other part of the world.
