The two Democratic nominees have narrowed down to Hillary Clinton, former secretary of state and, Bernie Sanders, junior United States senator of Vermont, who fascinatingly enough, isn’t exactly a Democrat. He interchangeably identifies himself as an independent, a socialist, or an independent socialist. The two candidates share numerous viewpoints on certain policies, but the more one observes the more evident it becomes of their different positions and goals as candidates. While Hilary comes off as more traditional, cautious with her word choices, and some may say even say vague; Sanders is more to the point, straight forward.
Bernie Sanders, 74 years old was raised in Brooklyn, New York. He embarked on his higher education at Brooklyn College with a major in psychology, but soon transferred to the University of Chicago, where he obtained his Bachelor degree in political science prior to moving to Vermont. There both in agreement on the following but not limited to: abortion is a woman's unrestricted right, same sex marriage, easier voter registration process, expand Obama care, pathway to citizenship for illegal aliens, higher taxes on wealthy. The list is extensive. Although both candidates agree on numerous issues it doesn’t mean that the way they plan on going about these issues correlate. Take the policy of higher taxes on the wealthy. Bernie’s plan would require employees/employers to contribute 0.2 percent of wages, while Hillary’s plan is to have only the wealthiest of Americans have increased taxes. Whereas Clinton wants to keep Obama care in place Sanders wants to take it a step further with a single payer health care system.
