God's Chesed In The Old Testament

The stories of the Old Testament are familiar to many. We know the tale of Noah and the Ark, the story of Ruth and Naomi, the narrative of Abraham, and the storyline of Kind David. All of these stories have something in common. However, what they all share is something not many people are aware of. Chesed it God's commitment to us. And in all of these books of hope, friendship, and faith, God's chesed is apparent.

There are several instances of God's chesed all throughout the Old Testament. One of those instances is the story of Ruth and Naomi. In this story Naomi loses her two sons. One of her deceased children was Ruth's husband. Naomi tried to persuade Ruth to leave her and find a better life. But Ruth insisted on building a new life with her mother-in-law. The second
Though she could have easily found a new husband to provide for her, Ruth decided that her mother-in-law was more important than her personal wellbeing. Ruth's chesed to Naomi shows God's chesed to us. He puts everything aside to care for us. We are God's number one priority. And even if we insist that we do not need Him, God will always be there to take care of us. The story of Abraham shows us that if we are committed to God, God will be committed to us. Abraham followed every single instruction God gave him. In return, God displayed His chesed by keeping His promise of making Abraham a father of many nations.

The study of God's chesed has invoked in me feelings of comfort, reassurance, and tranquility. Learning about God's commitment to humanity has brought me to the realization that I will never be alone. No matter how far I stray from the path of righteousness, God will always be at the end of the pathway to welcome me with open arms and forgive me from my mistakes. The Lord knows that I cannot be perfect. So if there ever arises an instance where I cannot fulfill what God has asked of me, I know that He will show mercy on
