The Qualities I’ve been lucky enough to come across someone who makes me feel great. My boyfriend, Ricardo Rumbaut, tends to make my day everyday. He may not be perfect but that is fine with me. He does carry some great qualities; as long as his unpleasant traits don’t take the best of him. First, one quality that best describes Ricardo is his great personality. He is a complete sweetheart. He tends to be very thoughtful. For instance, I was stuck in the hospital the other day taking care of my ill grandmother, and he surprised me with a visit, and spent a copious amount of time with me there. He definitely uplifted my mood. He knew how I sad I was and seeing him always makes me blissful. He is also a very loving person. “I am going to be here through the good and the bad mi Amor,” was what he told me at the hospital. He knows just what to say when I need his support. We may have had some complications along the way, but I still manage to have him loving me. Not only does he have a great personality, but he is also responsible. By responsible I mean, to a guy certain extent. For instance, he may leave everything for the last minute but he makes sure to get it all done. When it comes to his job, it’s his top priority. Which is a good thing, because the economy isn’t at its best. My boyfriend is 24 years old and is at the age to go to copious of parties and clubs, but he chooses not to. He knows he has the responsibility of waking up early and get ready to go to work. Especially since one of his short term goals is to “get a promotion.” However, he can let his jealously get the best of him. In my opinion, I think his jealously is also involved with lack of self-confidence. His jealousy issues tend to get the best of him and also cause him to have trust issues. He askes me everyday, “babe are you hiding something” or “how was school, did you give anyone your

A stereotype is a predisposed idea about a group of people based on limited information you have heard or seen and assumed to be true about every individual in that group. In “Don’t Call Me a Hot Tamale,” Judith Ortiz Cofer describes how being Puerto Rican affects her every day. People make rude comments about her, based on her ethnicity, and without knowing her. Cofer describes how she was stereotyped in different situations. From being compared to a Latina character in a play to having her culture misinterpreted. She does not fight against this prevaricate ideas. Instead, she travels around the United States and reads from her books and poetry trying to clear stereotypes about Latinos.
