Good morning/afternoon fellow students. Before anything else, allow me to sincerely thank you for acknowledging my candidacy for senator in our beloved university.
Since freshman year, I have been an advocate for our student body. Although I have not held a position similar to what I am running for now, I have always been actively helping our student government in my humble capacity as First Year representative. Through my efforts, the freshmen have earned two seats in the school council, empowering them more by making their voices heard.
The constant complain of first year students about not having a place for them to hang out during their free time because most study areas and even libraries are dominantly occupied by older students, was finally solved when I made representations in the school board to ask for funds for the construction of at least two study sheds exclusively for the use of freshmen. The construction was done before the end of the first semester, and the facilities are now serving their purpose to the delight of our youngest students.
In the second semester, I batted for transparency by demanding the student council’s treasurer to give a quarterly financial report which was to be published in our school publication. This measure was carried out and as a result, we now have a good knowledge on how the funds derived from our school fees are being used by our student government. Towards the end of the fourth quarter, I crafted a petition, demanding better services from our food providers through the sale of nutritious food and banning unhealthy snack and drinks. The petition is still being heard and evaluated by the school administration.
If given your trust this year as senator, I pledge to finish the programs that I started last year, and pursue other endeavors that would make the lives of every student in this school better. I will continue to advocate for transparency and clean governance. I will continue to be your voice in the student council, and I shall not tire of listening to your sentiments about issues directly affecting your studies. I will find ways to make the enrollment process easier and more efficient so that students don’t have to wear themselves out for one day only to be told to come back the next day. The enrollment should not be long and tedious so students don’t have to spend more for their extended stay in the school.
My self-driven advocacy for all of us is what drives me forward. On Election Day, I ask for your support so in return, I can continue making your voices heard. My dream has always been to serve others, and this is something I have been able to do in the past. I pray that this school year will be another time for me to improve myself as a leader and another opportunity to live my dream once more. I promise not to betray the trust that you have given me in the past. I enjoin you all to vote for me and the rest of my team not only because you know many of us but because you know deep in your hearts that we can deliver the services that you truly deserve.
My record speaks for my capacity to serve. I care about your interests and your voice. I care about providing equal opportunities to every student who come to study in this university. I care about making your student life as enjoyable and as fulfilling as possible. Let us make this journey together, and let us all reach for our dreams and aspirations. Come share your ideas, and I will make them happen.
Thank you and have a great day.

Being a member of Best Buddies and SAVE, I demonstrate a strong sense of dedication for supporting others and lending a helping hand. The goals of both Best Buddies and SAVE are to further acceptance, embrace diversity, promote safety in schools, and spreading positive energy. As a student representative, my sole objective would be to help enlighten the school board and those in the community about the daily life at MHS, advocate for the 1,600 students currently attending, and respectively relay any helpful amendments that would benefit the Mukwonago Area School District. The multiple clubs I participate in and the copious amounts of friendships I developed with people that have contrasting passions also allow me to speak on behalf of a relatively large group of students. The students taking part in the same activities that I belong to range from freshman to seniors. The opinions of a freshman compared to that of a senior’s may vary drastically, and being a part of clubs with a sample of each year will give me an advantage to hear an assortment of…

I want to see more of my fellow high students be admitted into UC schools, the protection of women’s and the LGBTQ community’s rights, everyone having access to healthycare, senior citizens getting the benefits they worked for, and more. The idea that positive change can happen in the city I was raised in drove me to wake up the morning to canvass, make hundreds of calls, and push high school students to be more involved in local politics. Back then, I would never have believe my actions as a high school girl can impact my hometown as a whole. Last year I was asked to be a small group leader for incoming 7th grade students this year. Having known what it felt like to be a new student in a completely different school I jumped on the opportunity to help. I, like Billy tried to be open and welcoming, encouraging the 7th graders to become involved in the Xaverian community just like Billy did for me and I’m sure many others. My goal was to be able to help the 7th graders in any situation whether they needed advice or just want to share a funny story. As a student council senator I would try to do the same. I would strive to always be friendly and kind to all Xaverian students wanting everyone to feel welcome. I would encourage other to join clubs and activities and go on service projects like X-Act and Christmas in the city. Most of all I would want each and every student at Xaverian to feel accepted and to feel excited, knowing that they are each a key part in the larger, greater, Xaverian…

In 2004 the United States of America held a presidential election as it does every four years. Throughout the process, from primary to convention, from the debates to Election Day, both the candidates and the media relied on rhetoric to influence the thoughts of the electorate. Because of the close results of the 2000 election and the bitter court battle that followed, the rhetoric of the campaigns of both major candidates in 2004 was stronger and more focused than before. To show the uses of this rhetoric and its effects on the public through the media, several topics are discussed within. First, the language used by the candidates, followed by a discussion of the political conventions and a look at the rhetoric of journalism and the way that the media effects the government.…
