Review of Related Literature The development, manufacture, and sales of electronic products make up one of the largest and most important industries in the world. The electronic industry is also one of the fastest growing of all industries (World Book Encyclopedia, 1995). Electronics has changed the way people live. People have come to depend on electronic products in almost every aspect of their daily lives. Electronic components are used in broad range like radios, television sets, computers, video cassette players, hearing aids, medical instrument and other products. Similarly, electronic computers or simply computers are used in business, schools, government, industry, scientific laboratories, and the home. People depend on computers to handle vast amount of information with incredible speed and to solve mathematical problems in a fraction of a second. Computers can store a huge number of words in a way that make it easy to manipulate them, thus, word processing is one of the most important and widespread uses of computers. Also, the use of computers to make pictures – computer graphics make up one of the most fascinating and fast growing areas of computer use. People use computers to store unbelievably large qualities of information which is called database. The efficiency with which the computers store and retrieve information makes them valuable in a wide range of profession. For these reasons, the computer is one of the most interesting and important machines ever invented. The fusion of computers and electronic industries has revolutionized such fields as communication, education, medicine, entertainment, and business and industry. Almost every field is said to be automated. In this perspective, a computerized examination checker, which automatically checks test papers, is one of the electronic products that has brought about significance to universities in automating the checking of examination papers. For this reason, the MMSU particularly the Admission Office which is in-charge of the administration of College Freshman Admission Test (CFAT) to prospective entrants to the university, benefits from the machine. Similar studies have been conducted in the previous years and circumstances and problems brought about by the installation of computerized examination checker were identified. Students aiming to study in the university are on the increase. The Admission Office then needs a tool to speed up checking the examination papers with almost unfailing accuracy. According to Banalaget. al. (2003), computerized examination checker needs to be installed so that checking of exams would not be cumbersome or laborious. Examinations are conducted each year to test the capabilities of students in Analytical Ability, and English proficiency, to assess if the prospective applicants are qualified to enter the university, and to limit the population of the studentry. However it takes two to three months to release the results after the examination making the students wonder whether they qualified or not to enroll in the University. If ever the result is unsatisfactory, they could no longer enroll in other college or universities. Through this computerized examination checker, checking would be amazingly quick. Labor cost would also be lessened and other efforts would be eliminated.

My initiation into electronics transpired more than a decade ago. As I belong to a family of doctors, my early childhood memories are engrossed with images of patients and of gadgets saving their lives. This environment was a perfect epitome of the enormous power of science and of how science and spirituality, like electricity and magnetism are but two sides of the same coin. As I grew up i was infatuated by the constant evolution of technology. I was awed when the desktop computer in my house was replaced by a laptop. The sheer reduction in size intrigued me. The revelation of the pivotal role of electronics came to me when I undertook the basic electronic course in my higher secondary class. That course gave me a deep sense of satisfaction and propelled me to pursue this subject further…
