(Character Sketch) – My Friend Lianna
(Character Sketch) – My friend Lianna
My friend Lianna is the most amazing friend anybody could ask for. We’ve been through so much together, we are destined to be sisters. We met on the first day of high school in English class, we were paired up to work on a project and then we introduced ourselves to each other and then we found out that we had a lot in common. Both of us were terrified of the massive size of the high school. She had the locker right next to mine. I told her I didn’t know anybody in our class and she said “You do now”. We’ve been friends ever since. Most boys think that Lianna is not very pretty and they make fun of her just because she’s Asian. She has long black hair, cascading over her shoulders. She laughs about everything and when she does, you see about a hundred white teeth- so bright, you almost need sunglasses. When she laughs, her eyes grow wide, casting a black shadow across the room. Lianna likes to dress kind of skater-ish, in sweatpants, sweatshirts, and bracelets. But, she’s very unpredictable, too. Sometimes she’ll wear a fancy dress or skinny jeans. She must have 4 closets full of clothes, because she barely wears the same outfit twice. Lianna is the most lively animated character I’ve ever known. She’s always rushing around trying to get the latest scoop on everyone. It’s like she’s in the FBI. Right before she shares important news, Lianna tosses back her dark black luscious hair, takes a deep breath, and quickly looks side to side making sure the coast is clear. She never says anything mean about people, she just wants to get the latest scoop and know what’s going on. She always supports me in everything I want to do. Not many girls in our group of friends play sports, but when I told Lianna I wanted to go out for basketball, she cheered me on and she said “Go for it”. Even though I didn’t make the team she was always my biggest fan during tryouts. Not only is lianna a tremendous supporter, she also trusts me to give her my

My Duncan Buddy’s name was Chariteey. She and I did not have that great of a relationship. Some days she would say that she did not like me, while other days she would apologize for saying that she didn’t like me. I think I impacted Chariteey’s life by showing her that you cannot just push people away. Saying “mean” things to people is not ok and I told her that. I told her that it was ok that she said it because she apologized, but that she cannot go around saying things like that to other people. She talks about her mom, but had mentioned that her father died when she was younger. I think her mom is there for her, but not as involved as she could be. She mentions that she goes on “trips” with her friend that is a guy. I was not sure how…

My best friend Sedona Love taught me something this year, something I would never have had seen with my own two eyes until she showed me. She taught me that when I am having trouble at home or life isn’t treating me so well, that she will always be there to listen and give their best input. She may sometimes be sarcastic, silly, goofy, mean, crazy, sometimes plain out embarrassing, and even care too much, but in the long run she is always going to be there to listen and not talk, hear without judging, and be there with nothing in return. In class sometimes she can be pretty critical but I know that’s just how our relationship works. I may get called silly, stupid, a dumb blonde, an idiot, but when I need my best friend the most I know that she will be there for me. When I needed a shoulder to cry on or when I needed a hug the most she was always there for me, when I felt there was no sense in life she showed me there was way more to life than I thought. A couple of weeks ago I went into severe anaphylactic shock and she was right there, she brought me my backpack and the things I needed most at the time. She stood up for me when my so called friends were talking behind my back not really knowing what was going on. She was also the only one who cared enough to call me and see how I was doing, she put everything aside just so she could make sure that I was okay. Not…

I had not seen my friends since the last school year, but none of my so called “friends” would even acknowledge me. Here I was again, scared out of my wits, at a new school, and looking for friends. I met new people and they took me in like a lost puppy looking for a home, one of them ended up living very near to me. Her name was Simi, she was very nice to me; I thought that Simi would actually be the friend for me. It turns out, I was wrong, Simi used me to get what she wanted and I was gullible enough to cave in to her demands. Later on in the year, I finally (after years of searching) found the perfect group of friends. They were amazing and they felt just like my friends back in Ardmore. From that group of friends, I found my best friend Elizabeth Helms, who is still my best friend…

Isabella’s brother is studying law while my brother is studying accounting. Both of us agree that being the youngest gives us more freedom than some would think. Our parents are less strict with us compared to how they were with our older sibling/s. In our freetime me and Isabella both like watching TV and movies. Isabella and I both watch the TV show Grey’s Anatomy and we both agree it’s one of the best shows. Isabella is very passionate about writing, especially journalism. We discussed why she was so interested in journalism and I learned that journalism not only gives you a way to notify everyone about current events, but it also gives you a voice. With journalism, people are able to discover the truth and give that truth to the public. I also learned how different her life is from mine. Since she lives in the city of Boston there’s a lot of activities for her to do, it’s never boring. Living in Boston also allows her to be able to walk places. I told her how I live in Connecticut and there isn’t much to do. There isn’t anyplace to walk to, everything requires driving. Something else I learned from Isabella was to not let events that don’t go my way bring me down, I should just keep…

She’s clever, hilarious, generous, kind, loving, intelligent, and has a strong moral compass. When I look at her, I see hope. Ultimately I see hope for me. While I often contemplate with envy the image of perfection I see in her, I have come to realize that her success story could be mine as well. She gives me an ideal to strive for. Unlike some role models, she is real, I know her well, and we have a shared history. I see her human flaws along with her perfection. In this way her level of success is not some unattainable ideal, but something that I know I have the ability to reach. Her success motivates me to work through my own issues in a way that other people’s success cannot.…

My first day on the bus, I met a very important person to me. She would soon become the closest friend I would ever have. We shared a name, the interest in video games, and the hobby of drawing. But, other than that, we were very different. She liked white milk and hated chocolate (a.k.a “tainted milk”). I was the opposite. I enjoyed the company of dogs, she was obsessed with cats. But, differences aside, we enjoyed sitting together during lunch and just doodling all over each other's agendas and notebooks. We never really had any classes together, aside from homeroom together.…
