Breakfast Club
Who ever thought a detention can bring so many experiences? During the Breakfast club, Andrew Clarke and Bryan Johnson have shown characteristics that are very similar to me. While John Bender has shown characteristics and personalities that are complete opposite to my personality. I relate to Andrew Clarke’s characteristics because he is an athlete, respectful to others and gets easily angered in which is what I am since I am also an athlete, respectful to others and get angry easily. I also relate to Bryan Johnson characteristics because he is smart, obedient, and he is a peacekeeper to others and I am also smart in school, I am obedient and a peacekeeper to others. Finally, John Bender is a know it all, has no motivation and a loud mouth and I have motivation for my work and I am not a loud mouth.
Andrew Clarke during the movie has shown characteristics that are very similar to my personality in lots of ways. First of all, Andrew is an athlete. He has shown this by the clothes that he is wearing since he wore a sports jacket and by the way he talks, and how he fought John Bender in the beginning of the movie. I relate to this because I play lots of sports such as tennis, soccer and badminton, and I am physically fit. Since I am good at these sports I believe that I am an athlete. Andrew is respectful to everyone during the movie. He has shown this when John was picking on Bryan and Claire, but he stopped John and respected Bryan and Claire and gave them their attention. I relate to this because I also respect people who are getting bullied by helping them when they are being accused and comforting them. Finally, Andrew has shown that he gets angry easily. He has shown this when John Bender makes fun of him during the beginning and he kept on shouting back and he always tried to fight John Bender thinking he can beat him. I also relate to this because I always get angry when people make fun of me since it is irritating and I get annoyed when they repeat it over

I am not alike this character in many ways. I don’t have any little brothers with disabilities, or little brothers at all. Nor do I want to suffocate them with a pillow. I’m not embarrassed of my brothers, for any type of reason. I don’t call my brothers names, so people don't expect much from them. I don’t think they’re a let down, they’re quite great, intelligent, and impressive people. Of course this character is a very round character, from the beginning to the end of the story the change quite a bit. I definitely relate to the character at the end of the story, but hardly at all in the beginning.…

A “quintessential 80’s movie,” The Breakfast Club is a film rich with psychological principles. This movie is about a group of high school teenagers filled with personal angst who spend a Saturday serving their detention sentences in the school library. Each teenager from a different clique, they didn’t expect to relate as much to each other as they thought. As they begin to get to know each other, the vengeful assistant principal Vernon starts to single out Bender, the rebel of the group of teenagers. Initially, none of the other teenagers help Bender. This demonstrates the bystander effect because they don’t help Bender; this effect can be explained by the absence of group membership and cohesiveness because the 5 strangers don’t really know each other yet. But when assistant principal Vernon locks Bender in a closet, the group has already established trustworthy relationships among its members, so they decide to help Bender escape. Also, assistant principal Vernon debatably exhibited deindividuation when he proceeded to threaten Bender and to lock him inside a closet. Normally, an assistant principal of a high school wouldn’t speak cruelly or do such things to a student, but because of the situation (their history together and how Bender always seemed to have won), Vernon acts this way. Finally, each teenager demonstrated conformity in his/her own way. Bender covered up his scars from the abuse he received from his dad so that he wouldn’t be judged as weak for them; Andy, the jock, covered up his hatred for his father because he didn’t want to be seen as abnormal; Brian, the geek, contemplated suicide but never told anyone because he didn’t want to be perceived as depressed; Allison, the outcast, lies compulsively because she has to keep up a reputation she has created; and Claire, the popular girl, hides the fact that she is still a virgin because all of her friends are not virgins and she doesn’t want to be considered…

In Fannie Flagg’s esteemed novel, Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Café, characters and lessons from both the past and present inspire our main character, Evelyn Couch, to make changes in her life. The epitome of middle-aged misery and menopausal depression, Evelyn learns lessons from the stories and advice given to her by characters such as Mrs. Virginia ‘Ninny’ Threadgoode help her lift the veil of gloom cloaking her and aid her in reestablishing her dreams and goals – such as gaining a healthier and happier marriage with her husband, Ed, or losing all her unnecessary pounds. What sparks her journey to this better life, one she can actually look forward to at night rather than considering suicide, are the stories of a small Alabama town in the 1930’s and the residents who fight for happiness in a difficult time; Evelyn takes these stories of times past and uses the morals and advice given by Ninny to face each of her problems and attack every day with confidence. The transformation Evelyn embarks on is a sign of how strong she, or anyone, can be when their head is in the game, and as we see Idgie still selling her foods at the end of the book, we conclude that the past can live on even into the present.…

The character I picked from The Breakfast Club is Allison Reynolds. This character relates to me by how she is quiet and doesn’t speak much when she isn’t comfortable with the people around her, eventually she will become comfortable and show her true self. She is also like me by the way how she lies a lot, and how she does admit to lying later on. I lie sometimes, just not as much, plus my lies aren’t as bad as Allison’s.…

When going through the Chapter 3 models the most appealing personality to me is the behavioral and Things that I encountered in my childhood would make this model more personal. When I was younger the color of my skin affected the way certain family members treated you. I’m the middle child with 4 siblings 2 boys and 3 girls. Growing up I was the only light –skinned child my mother had; all the other children were dark- skinned. My mom didn’t really pay much attention she just thought I was always acting out because I was a LEO. My grandmother would say pretty nasty things to me even as an adult and insult my children also. I believe my behavior streamed from not having anyone to talk to or who would even understand my pain. I started to act…

There were many examples of how the characters in the movie "Fried Green Tomatoes" manifested power in and through their lives. One example of this is with the character Big George. He was a black man who lived in the town. He also did the barbeque at the Whistle Stop Cafe. A big example of how he manifested power was through his dealings with racism. This movie took place in the 1930's, a time period where the black race was greatly looked down upon and thought to be lesser than white people. This could also be seen when Idgie's friend tells her he has to bring her to Georgia the next day because she is being convicted of Frank Bennett's murder. He basically tells her to pack up and leave the town so she is not arrested and also tells her to leave Big George in the town to get arrested because the people wanted to have someone hung for the crime, and they would rather have it be a black man than a white woman. So because of these biases, Big George had to find the power within him to overcome these obstacles and to live a decent life, despite the hardships he had to face on a daily basis because of his skin color. Big George also found power within his own family and even with Idgie. So, by combining their determination and strength with his own, Big George was able to overcome the barriers of racism.…

The Breakfast Club relates to social health and mental health, by the characters personalities. In the Breakfast Club, five teenagers have to spend a full day in detention. Brian is the brain or nerd; he is the smart one of the group, that is pressured to do good by his parents. Allison is the basket case; a crazy goth, that makes things up. Andrew is the typical high school athlete; pushed to the max by his father and coach to be the best. People can come from all walks of life but still have common social and mental struggles.…

“Jock”, “prep”, “loser”, “geek”, “criminal”, “ popular”, are just a few labels of teenagers that are used everyday by outsiders who judge them without looking skin deep. In the matter of stereotyping, some may perceive it as being the base of an identity in the view of society. Stereotyping is categorized and used as a positive view. As opposed to the film The Breakfast Club, that creates a more negative input on stereotyping. Peer groups have really changed over the years in a High school atmosphere.…
