The two people I decided to write about are Diego Velazquez, and Johann Sebastian Bach, who are both apart of the Baroque period.Diego Velazquez was a painter in the court for the king of spain who published what is called the “world’s greatest painting”. Johann Sebastian Bach played the harpsichord, and today is considered “one of the great western composers of all time”.…
Handel was a British Baroque composer, who spent much of his career in London. He was well known for his operas, oratorios, anthems, and organ concertos. Within fifteen years of Handel’s career he started three commercial opera companies. One of Handel’s most famous works still to this day is, “Messiah.” Handel is one of the greatest Baroque composers and he is also remembered for “Water Music” and “Music for the Royal Fireworks.” One of his greatest accomplishments during his career is, composing over forty operas in thirty…
Benjamin Franklin was born January 17, 1706. He was the youngest child of Josiah and Abiah Franklin. He had 16 brothers and sisters, seven of which were only half siblings from his father’s previous marriage. He grew up in Boston, Massachusetts, at the age of 17 he ran away from…
C. Bach exemplify adequate usage of Classical era techniques on the keyboard. J. C. Bach’s composition, “Concerto for Harpsichord or Piano and Strings in E-flat Major,” serves as an ample example of the use and stylistic techniques of the keyboard in the Classical era. The keyboard concerto was a popular genre throughout the classical era, and J. C. Bach was perhaps one of the most influential composers in this category, as he was among the first to compose this particular genre. Throughout this piece, there are three movements, a fast movement followed by a slow movement, and then another fast movement. This organization was extremely typical for solo concertos in the 1700s. The galant style is heard in this piece through the lush ornamentation and sophistication. For example, in measure 17, one can note the elegance in the recurring 32nd to dotted 8th notes. As this composition calls for either a harpsichord or a piano, one might contend that a piano would be better suited, due to the lack of dynamic contrast achievable on the…
The greatest composer who ever lived was Ludwig van Beethoven. He knew music spoke to the heart, creating emotions, no other language could. Beethoven conveyed his feeling through the power of his music and wasn’t scared to enter unfamiliar territory when it came to his work. People weren’t used to the type of music he brilliantly composed during his time and succeeded against all odds when he lost his hearing. One of my favorite time periods was from 1803 through 1814 which was referred to as “the middle period”. This was a time period Beethoven experimented with his music leading him to change his composition style by incorporating more Romantic ideas leading him to compose songs like Symphony Number Three Eroica and One of my favorites Fifth Symphony.…
Johann Sebastian Bach (J.S. Bach) is considered to be the father of music for many reasons. He was the greatest Baroque composer, arguably the greatest composer of all times. He developed the modern piano lessons we use today, and developed helping book to strengthen both hands equally to play the piano. He wrote thousands of compositions, and simplified the way we compose music. He is the reason the piano became popular over the harpsichord. He was brilliant and innovated the way we read and see music today.…
Who was Johann Sebastian Bach? Did he have any mathematical background? What is special about his music? Johann Sebastian Bach was a famous fugal German composer during the Baroque era. He is now known as the greatest composer of all time. The job of a fugal composer is to make the lines in music develop independently, and still fit everything together while playing the music. On the Organ, Bach proved that he could make a four-part fugue. He explored harmony much more deeply than other composers in that period of time such as Handel or Vivaldi. Bach's music can include unusual “jazzy” chords. The music he made didn’t have to be played on a specific instrument, the same pieces could be played on a piano that was meant for a guitar, in…

People often have thoughts about other people having more enviable achievements than themselves do, but even if they think about doing things to change, their lack of perseverance still causes a poor outcome next time. Benjamin Franklin is one of the best example of a successful image throughout the history. Although having no eminent family background, he had himself work-hard to become a admirable person, one of the Founding Fathers of United States. Everyone fairly has 24 hours per day, yet he was able to surpass so many people in different realms. Benjamin Franklin had been through innumerable setbacks in his entire life, but other than making up excuses for his previous failures, on the other hand, Benjamin Franklin faced, understood,…

Bach composed over 1000 works, which he composed in a variety of styles and forms. Bach, in his early organ works, applied his own counterpoint skills to the speedy themes of his influences: Vivaldi, Corelli, and Albinoni. Historians mark the end of the Baroque period with Bach’s death in 1750, paying homage to one of the most revered composers of all time.…

Johann Sebastian Bach was born on March 31, 1685 in Eisenach, Saxe-Eisenach to the director of town musicians, Johann Ambrosius Bach, and his wife, Maria Elisabeth Lämmerhirt. He was the eighth child to be born in the family and was around music since he was a child. His uncles were all professional musicians and historians assume that his older brother taught him violin and basic musical theory when he was very young. Little did his family know, he would eventually become one of the most well known composers in history.…
