Nature & Nurture.

The nature versus nurture debate is about the relative importance of an individual's innate qualities.

What is Nature?
In the "nature vs nurture" debate, nature refers to an individual's innate qualities (nativism). Nature is your genes. The physical and personality traits determined by your genes stay the same irrespective of where you were born and raised. Nature factors that trigger an individual to commit crime are influences by biological and family factors. The nature method suggests that individuals are born with qualities, abilities and characteristics that determine the kind of person that individual will become.

An example of a Nature cause is ‘Cystic Fibrosis’ this is one of the worlds most common life-threatening inherited diseases, this is caused by a faulty gene that controls the movement of salt and water in and out of the cells within the body it affects the internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive system, by clogging them with thick sticky mucus. This is nature because it’s a natural cause and it wasn’t brought on deliberately.

What us Nurture?
In the "nature vs nurture" debate, nurture refers to personal experiences (behaviourism). Nurture refers to your childhood, or how you were brought up. Someone could be born with genes to give them a normal height, but be malnourished in childhood, resulting in stunted growth and a failure to develop as expected. Nurture factors that trigger an individual to commit crime are influences by social and environment factors. The nurture debate method argues it is the way an individual is brought up and their circumstances that are more important influences of kind individual they become.

An example of nurture is the ‘Genie case’ a severely neglected and abused child who was developmentally delayed due to the conditions in which she was raised. The relationship between her mother and father was abusive; her mother lived in fear of what he would do. The
