I learned a lot about my current career and educational goals such as which job I wanted to further. My education plans would include developing my math skills, increase my writing abilities, and overall success in every subject. It has also shown me that I want to get a success job that mostly relates to mathematics, most likely an accountant or engineer. It also showed my academic strengths and weaknesses. It also showed that I might be interest in Business and Physical education because it indicated that I would do pretty well. While filling out these career readiness inventories I got to reflect on not only my academic success but also my career and work success. I listed my two past jobs working at cracker barrel followed by Panera Bread, but also asked about my education accomplishments such as honor roll and upper level classes such as AP English in High school. In this case I would choose to use the Career Ability Placement Survey (CAPS) because it relates to specific choice of career. My rational is the CAPS assessment can be done in a web-based format for instant scoring, takes approximately 50 minutes and is cost effective (Drummond et al., 2015). I know what motivates me and what choices hinder my success. Choosing between the two is the challenge; I call that self-warfare. According to the assessment, my highest score of 34 was in the category Artistic, next was Social with 32 and my last 2 categories tied at 11 in the categories Investment, and Enterprise(National Center for O*NET Development). In tying this into my Job zone assessment, my results show that I am willing to add more education in order to have a specific career. By choosing to add more to my education, I found my top career choices to be a Mental Health counselor, Marriage and Family Therapist, and a Counseling Psychologist(National Center for O*NET Development). This does not surprise me considering I have been pursuing a career in mental health. It is a good exercise to keep your plan in focus. This is important because as many career-counseling theorists suggest, a career path can often change as life changes (Niles and Bowlsbey, 2013).…

The career plan building activity: reasoning aptitude helped me realize my strengths and opportunities. The results in the strength category were lower than I thought they would be. I scored the highest on adapting to change and that was the one that I felt I would have scored the lowest because I do not do very well with change unless I am prepared for the changes beforehand. When it came to researching, taking initiative, being innovative, organizing, and delivering results, I score 3 out of 5 possible points. I felt that with organizing and taking initiative, I would have had a higher score because I organize everything and I tend to take the initiative in a lot of situations at work, with school, and in my personal life.…
