The O. J. Simpson robbery case (officially called the State of Nevada v. Orenthal James Simpson, et al.) was a criminal case prosecuted in 2007-2008 in the U.S. state of Nevada, primarily involving the retired American football player O. J. Simpson.
On the night of September 13, 2007, a group of men led by Simpson entered a room in the Palace Station hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. A sports memorabilia dealer, Bruce Fromong, testified that the group of men broke into his hotel room and stole various sports memorabilia at gunpoint. Three days later, on the 16th of September 2007, Simpson was arrested for his involvement in the robbery and held without bail. He admitted taking the items, which he said had been stolen from him, but denied breaking into the room. Simpson also denied the allegation that he or the people with him carried weapons.
On October 3, 2008, Simpson was found guilty of all twelve charges, exactly 13 years to the day after he was acquitted of the murders of his wife, Nicole, and Ronald Goldman. On December 5, 2008, Simpson was sentenced to 33 years in prison with eligibility for parole in nine years.
I personally think that O.J Simpson deserves to face the prospect of spending the rest of his life in prison after he was found guilty on 12 charges, including armed robbery. You can’t just commit a crime with you getting away with it. But then I believe that everyone deserves a second chance and I’m pretty sure that he will feel terrible and would learn his lesson after being in jail for a long time, so eligibility for parole in nine years is reasonable I guess, besides he is a family man too and I could Imagine his children being devastated about the situation.
(Does that make sense to you, I don’t know what else to write so, if you think my opinion was very confusing just kinda edit shit out :p LUCKY MAN)
Elizabeth Smart kidnapping
The kidnapping of Elizabeth Smart occurred on the 5th of June 2002. A 14-year old American girl Elizabeth Smart was abducted from her hometown Salt Lake City, Utah in her bedroom. She was found alive nine months later on March 12,2003, in Sandy,Utah about 18 miles away from her home, in the company of Brian David Mitchell and Wanda lleen Barzee, who were castigated for her kidnapping, but initially ruled unfit to stand trial.
In 2009, Barzee and Mitchell were eventually convicted. It was later revealed during court testimony that Mitchell repeatedly raped Smart, sometimes multiple times daily and forced her to watch pornographic films. He often forced her to drink alcohol to lower her resistance. Her abduction and recovery were widely reported and were the subject of a made-for-television movie and a published book. They were held in the Salt Lake Country Jail following their sentencing on the 25th of May 2011. They also got transferred to federal prison to begin serving a life sentence for his crimes.
With all honesty, the fact that she was kept for nine months by the kidnappers is driving me insane. She had ample opportunities to escape but she didn’t because she was thinking that it was the best thing to do in order to survive. If she resisted with their violence she likely would get beaten more. Smart is now experiencing a tragic Stockholm syndrome from what happened to her that pretty much ruined her life since this condition takes a very long time to heal. Her family was in shock and it was the worst thing that ever happened to them. From these, Barzee and Mitchell deserve to face their consequences and to serve a life sentence in prison as what they did is totally unacceptable and against the law. No one can ruin a person’s life just like that to satisfy their sexual interests.
