I Have A Dream: Pollution edition
“I Have a Dream”

My dream is to minimize the amount of pollution and waste in the United States. Pollution can be very harmful both to humans and nature. Pollution can cause physical deformities such as cancer and environmental harm such as acid rain, destruction to the ozone layer that protects the world from UV rays emitted by the sun. With the help of our nation, we can help reduce the nationwide pollution in our cities and the countryside. We can achieve this dream by working together. Normal, everyday people can recycle and also cut down on emissions. In order to reduce emissions here in America, we can cut back on our carbon footprint. In order to do this, we can carpool, use fewer aerosols, and also be more cautious of our everyday activities. Companies can be restricted on what amounts of materials that they can develop that can by destructive to the environment. We can develop more environmentally safe cars and put electric outlets for electric car right next to the parking meters on every city street.
People can also listen to the Environmental Protection Agency. All us people have to do is work together in our own communities. We can create a recycling management company that is located in every major region of every state that picks up the materials and recycles them into useful items that we can then use here in the United States or export through trade to generate more income in the United States.
Although these are only some suggestions on how we Americans can become more eco-friendly, I think that these ideas can help begin a safer future for the Earth. I hope that someday that my dream may come true.

We as humans can do our part personally to contribute in energy conservation and helping to sustain the environment through using more energy efficient appliances which can be a bit costly at first but will save energy, the environment, and ourselves money in the long run. We as consumers can purchase compact fluorescent light bulbs that use less energy and last longer than incandescent light bulbs. And the next time you’re looking to purchase a new vehicle that is fuel efficient like a hybrid car which combines gasoline engines and electric motors. I think knowledge is power when it comes to each person doing their part so feel free to engage in more research on…

Each person can help conserve energy by walking, riding a bike or carpooling instead of individually driving to help control the pollution to our environment. We can recycle paper, plastic and glass. By doing this we are helping protect some of the trees that are being cut down to make paper. Plastic can be used to make other things and conserve some of the oil that is used to make them. Glass containers can be reused or recycled to make more glass containers. We also reduce consumption of energy resource by turning of lights, fans or televisions when they are not in use. By doing this we will also save money on our individual energy bills.…

Individuals can take action by investing on greener energy sources. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has made it easier now more than ever for people to reduce their own carbon footprint by labeling various electrical products ranging from dishwashers to tablets with an Energy Star label. These products meet EPA’s low standards of energy consumption which will in turn reduce the cost of energy bills. As for transportation, carpooling and public transportation that rely on renewable energy are key to reducing your carbon footprint. Less than a decade ago, most vehicles were required to only meet minimal fuel-economy standards (Henson 388), so for those who must commute by car daily, investing in an energy efficient vehicles like electric cars and hybrids is a great way to help cut carbon…

I believe the best and most effective answer to that question is reduce the amount of energy that we use. The first and simplest step is to reduce your power consumption. Creating power is one of the largest uses of fossil fuels which means the less power made, the less fossil fuels used. Everybody can use less power by simply turning off lights and unplugging appliances when not in use. Most appliances continue to consume power even after they have been turned off, if everybody just unplugged their electronics or switched off the power strip energy would become a lot more sustainable. Another huge problem with the world is automobiles. While most people love their cars and don’t want to lose the freedom to go anywhere their thoughts might be changed when they look at all the negatives cars produce. First, is all the time, energy, and resources used to make a car. Most car parts are made from expendable ores and minerals and then shipped across the globe. This not only uses up mineral reserves in the production of the parts but consumes large amounts of petroleum energy in the transportation process. Then, as everybody knows all these cars consume huge amounts of energy in the form of gas every day, this will deplete our oil supply in no time. Cars also need roads to drive on. Roads are the leading consumer of the United States mineral resources, and the…

Some of the things that we take for granted could really help the environment if we could just take that first step to stop and think about what we are using and throwing away. For instance we all buy pop which is supplied in a plastic bottle and approximately 50% of us that do just take that bottle and throw it away in the garbage to be taken to our city dumps. This provides more trash. Reduce the amount of the Earth 's resources that we use. Reuse it do not just bin it, could someone else make use of it? Recycle Can the materials be made into something new? Reduce what you have to use,...…

    1. CHANGE YOUR LIGHT If every household in the United State replaced one regular light bulb with one of those new compact fluorescent bulbs, the pollution reduction would be equivalent to removing one million cars from the road. Don't like the color of light? Use these bulbs for closets, laundry rooms and other places where it won't irk you as much. 2. TURN OFF COMPUTERS AT NIGHT By turning off your computer instead of leaving it in sleep mode, you can save 40 watthours per day. That adds up to 4 cents a day, or $14 per year. If you don't want to wait for your computer to start up, set it to turn on automatically a few minutes before you get to work. 3. DON'T RINSE Skip rinsing dishes before using your dishwasher and save up to 20 gallons of water each load. Plus, you're saving time and the energy used to heat the additional water. 4. DO NOT PRE-HEAT THE OVEN Unless you are making bread or pastries of some sort, don't pre-heat the oven. Just turn it on when you put the dish in. Also, when checking on your food, look through the oven window instead of opening the door. 5. RECYCLE GLASS Recycled glass reduces related air pollution by 20 percent and related water pollution by 50 percent. If it isn't recycled it can take a million years to decompose. 6. DIAPER WITH A CONSCIENCE By the time a child is toilet trained, a parent will change between 5,000 and 8,000 diapers, adding up to approximately 3.5 million tons of waste in U.S. landfills each year. Whether you choose cloth or a more environmentally-friendly disposable, you're making a choice that has a much gentler impact on our planet. 7. HANG DRY Get a clothesline or rack to dry your clothes by the air. Your wardrobe will maintain color and fit, and you'll save money. Your favorite t-shirt will last longer too. 8. GO VEGETARIAN ONCE A WEEK One less meat-based meal a week helps the planet and your diet. For example: It requires 2,500 gallons of water to produce one pound of beef. You…
