The movie Freedom Writer is an inspiring story that unveils the perfection of the teaching profession . Throughout the film , the main character Ms . Erin Gruwell (played by Hilary Swank ) managed to standout as an exemplary teacher regardless of the complexities that surrounds the learning environment . The story discusses how students managed to survive in school with the aid of an exceptional teacher who influenced them to change and aim for success .
1 . How does environment affect a students learning ?
The scenario of Wilson High School clearly manifest how environment affects student 's learning . Majority of the students suffers from issues regarding racism and cultural diversity which sets them apart and made them involved in serious gang wars . This results in low classroom performances plus the fact that most students are not given proper support and attention by their families . Students are motivated from what surrounds them . When the learning environment is full of negative elements , students will loose their focus and will stop them from achieving the so called academic success .
2 . What can we do as teachers to help children learn no matter their background ? How can we make our classroom inviting to all children ?
Teachers make an influential difference in student 's achievement and motivation to learn . In order to make classrooms more inviting to children , teachers should be effective enough when it comes to understanding and accepting personality differences among students , has the ability to build relationships , think of activities that will enjoy and educate at the same time and provide guidance inside and outside the classroom .
