A Once Upon A Time Case
Once Upon A Time...

Once upon a time long ago and far away, there lived a Baron and his wife, the Baroness. They lived in a castle surrounded by a large moat with a big drawbridge.

One day the Baron said to the Baroness, "I'm going hunting for a while and whatever you do, do not leave the castle!" And with that, the Baron and his hunting party left.

The Baroness passed the day idly and waited and waited for her husband to return. At dusk, it became apparent that the Baron would not be returning until, at least, the next day.

The Baroness told her servants that she was leaving the castle for the evening, that she would be back at dawn, and she asked them to leave the drawbridge down for her.

The Baroness then left the castle, crossed the drawbridge, and ran off to spend several enjoyable hours with her lover.

In the wee hours of the morning, the Baroness headed back to the castle. As she approached the drawbridge, she was met by a madman carrying a huge knife. He told her that he would kill her if she tried to cross the drawbridge.

Knowing the danger of what would happen if she wasn't back in the castle by dawn, the baroness ran back to her lover and asked for his help. The lover explained very calmly that he was in this relationship purely for fun, and that he was not about to risk his life to help her.

The Baroness ran back to the drawbridge, hoping that the madman would be gone, but alas, he was still there.

The Baroness noticed a ferryman sleeping on his boat. The ferryman said that he would take her across the moat for 500 dollars. The Baroness explained her dilemma and that she had no money with her, but the ferryman said that he had a business to run and his policy was cash -- not credit.

The Baroness ran to her best friend's estate, explained the dire situation, and begged for her assistance. The friend listened with half an ear and then basically said, You made your bed, now lie in it."

Frantic and desperate, the Baroness.....

So I guess all she could do was go back to bed. She would lie in her "white suburban bedroom", white meaning colourless which in my opinion represents boredom, it also shows the way it is meant to appear to be pure, innocent and perfect. She would lie " 'neath the covers, dreaming of a thousands lovers". Under the covers she would feel stuffy, with no air to breath causing dizziness, this represents how she is feeling, she wants to break free, she needs air. Her dreaming of a thousands lover is her need for something new in her life, she is bored and wants excitement. She is so out of touch with what is going on around her that "she let the phone keep ringin' as she sat there softly singin' pretty nursery rhymes she'd memorised in her daddy's easy chair" this showed in some sense madness, just sitting there singing while the phone rings but also reminiscing about the good times in her life, when she felt more or less complete and as if her life was…

Fear filled the lover’s eyes. Without even a second more the tiger attacks slaughtering its victim in a few quick bloody seconds. The story states that, “But if the accused person opened the other door, there came forth from it a lady, the most suitable to his years and station that his majesty could select among his fair subjects; and to this lady he was immediately married, as a reward for his innocence. It mattered not that he might already possess a wife and family, or that his affections might be engaged upon an object of his own selection.” The princess hated that her lover would have to marry another woman if he chose her door. The princess was jealous at this thought and decided to take fate into her own hands. In the story it says, “This semi-barbaric king had a daughter as blooming as his most florid fancies and with a soul as fervent and imperious as his own.” It means she was just like her father and she was not only driven by the jealousy of another woman but she wanted to see what would happen. The story also observes that, “It was one of the fairest and loveliest of the damsels of the court who had been selected as the reward of the accused youth, should he be proved innocent of the crime of aspiring to one so far above him; and the princess hated her.” The princess hated the lady behind the door. The princess tried to get him to go through the right door because she hates the lady that her lover would have had…
