A New Breed of Attack

A New Breed of Attack It is supercilious to any other sport in terms of entertainment, finance and culture. It attracts the attention of over a third of the world population during its illustrious World Cup. It has induced ceasefires because, opposing nations were eager to see its dazzling superstars play. It is as Pelé said “the beautiful game”. It is soccer. I —along with over two billion people— am an avid soccer fan. I am awestruck by the magnificence of the game, the players and its uniqueness. I am perplexed by the physics defying shows of prowess displayed by soccer superstars. In particular, there is one that I love above all. His name is Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior. Neymar is best known his clinical finishing, electrifying dribbling ability and charm. He is the reason why I recently purchased my orange and black Nike HyperVenom Phantom FG soccer cleats. The Nike HyperVenom Phantom FG soccer cleats series was first unveiled on May 27th, 2013. It is classified as an agility boot and was designed for perfect dribbling and ball control. Neymar and Mario Balotelli presented it at the 2013 Fédération Internationale de Football Association (International Federation of Association Football) Confederations Cup. The boot utilizes the most advanced and innovative technologies to form ‘a new breed of attack’. It uses All Conditions Control coating that enables its wearer to maximize his performance in both wet and dry weather. A key attribute of the Nike HyperVenom Phantom FG soccer cleats is the new NikeSkin technology. The NikeSkin of the boot is the epitome of Nike’s technological genius. The NikeSkin is a soft mesh coated with polyurethane, this results in an ultra light boot; it is the closest thing to playing barefoot. The NikeSkin technology gives the boot unprecedented ball control, agility, infinite acceleration and deadly dribbling capabilities. With these boots on, defenders cower in the devastating goal

On September, 22nd, 1995 a legend was born. Her name was Alexis Elizabeth Taparrotta, and she was one of those lucky people who is born kicking but doesn’t stop. Alexis started playing soccer at the age of three. Her parents signed her up at such a young age so she would always have a lead on other potential legends. Alexis had a weird obsession with soccer. Every single thing she owned either had something to do with soccer or had a soccer ball on it. She had a soccer bed set, books, balls that went on the ceiling that would glow in the dark when the lights were off, posters, clothes, every possible jersey worn by a soccer player. She also had every single world cup soccer ball in the…

Eduardo Galeano reflects upon one of, if not the most popular sport in “Soccer Is Everything.” He calls soccer “a powerful symbol, a great mystery.” The message that Galeano is trying to convey is that soccer is not just a sport anymore, it is much more than that. The reason is that soccer has affected individuals, groups, countries, cultures, and religion by unification because of its popularity and the diversity of its fans.…

The next person I interviewed is Jesus Espendosa a 17 year old high school senior, told me why he loved soccer so much, “soccer is actually a lot of fun. You have more planning and you don’t get hurt as much as you think. In fact you have to be more flexible then powerful to play the game.” I asked him if he thought that his heritage liked football more than other sports and he said, “Yes, because it was the only sport we could really play when we lived in México, all my friends there play it too.” Jesus is very active, and has participated in many soccer games.…

People ask me why I care so much. They tell me it’s just a game, get over it. But soccer has never been just a game to me. Soccer has been consuming my time, thoughts, and body since my parents signed me up for small-time recreational soccer twelve years ago that developed into extremely competitive travel soccer. They, perhaps unknowingly, threw me headlong into a life of traveling countless miles, long nights of practice, and an unforgettable amount of tears, sweat, and bloodshed. All which persisted over the course of my extensive soccer career.…

Now that you have an idea of the rules of professional soccer, I will continue to explain the popularity and passion of the game. Soccer is very widely played all over the world. The most prestigious international soccer competition is that of the world cup, held every four years, it lasts about a month, the most recent one being held in South Africa world cup 2010. With more than a billion viewers a day and tuned in to approximately 30 billion times, it is more popular than the Super Bowl, the World Series, the Masters, and the NBA finals. One reason many researchers believe it is so popular, especially in third world countries is because of the lack of things needed in order to play. All you need is a goal and a ball. Soccer is so much a part of so many people’s everyday lives.…
